From: Secretary of ISO/TC 135 Subject: Chairpersonship of ISO/TC 135/SC 3 Dear Sir or Madam: The term of the incumbent chairperson of ISO/TC 135/SC 3, Mr. Udo Schlengermann expires at the end of year 2013. The secretariat of ISO/TC 135/SC 3 has re-nominated him for a new mandate for 3 years starting from 2014-01-01, which was ratified by the SC 3 members as attached. In accordance with Clause 1.8.1 of the ISO/IEC Directives, this proposal is sent to the ISO/TC 135 members for approval. A draft resolution per correspondence is circulated via the ISO Committee Internal Balloting system. In order for the TC 135 to resolve this re-nomination, you are asked to vote at the ISO’s electronic balloting portal, no later than 2013-11-15. - considering the ISO/IEC Directives, Clause 1.8.1, which lays down

the rules for successive nomination of Chairperson,

- noting the re-nomination by the ISO/TC 135/SC 3 Secretariat, which

was ratified by the SC 3 members,

- re-appoints Mr.Udo Schlengermann as Chairperson of ISO/TC

135/SC 3 for a period of 3 years (2014 – 2016).

• Engaged as a researcher (physicist) on ultrasonic applications and on interaction of ultrasound with all kind of materials and discontinuities by the companies Krautkramer, Agfa NDT and General Electric Inspection Technologies, Huerth, Germany for more than 40 years.

Special fields are UT on rolled, forged and cast metal products, UT of joints and UT of railway equipment, rolling stock and permanent way.

• Chairman of German standards committee for ultrasonic testing since 1993 (DIN NA 062-08-23 AA);

• Convener of European standards committee for ultrasonic testing since 2004 (CEN/TC 138/WG 2), Liaison officer to the European Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization (ECISS);

• Convener of European standards committee for ultrasonic testing of welds since 2005 (CEN/TC 121/SC 5/WG 2);
