In Pakistan, that is in South Asia, live side by side a lot of religion, but the most important is Islam. Islam is a monotheistic religion founded in the Arabian Peninsula and people who follow Islam are called Muslims. Muslims believe that there is only one God, who is called Allah.

The Qur’an is the holy book for Muslims. They believe that it ‘s the saing of God. In the Qur’an there are 114 chapters and in each one there are lot of verses . Many Muslims learn by heart the verses that they recite during the day addressed to The Mecca .

The holy place for Muslims is the mosque. There’s a mosque in every city and there Muslims go to pray . If they can’t go to the mosque, they pray in the place where they are.

Ramadan is the ninth month moon calendar. During this month people fast (they deprive themeselves of food). They can eat only from the sunset to the sunrise. During the day, they can’t smoke , eat and drink.

In Islamic religion, for the Qur’an, the women should have the same rights of men , but in reality isn’t like like this. In fact, women are in a bad position in the Islamic society.
