A shooting range located in Merseyside has come under fire for their practise target featured teen IS bride Shamima Begum, who at the age of 15 left her home in London to join the Islamic state group. In a recent interview, Begum shared her views on the Manchester Arena attack stating that while it was “wrong” that innocent adults and children died in the 2017 terrorist attack, she felt that the action was justified as it was “kind of retaliation” for previous attacks on IS. Begum’s case has been a prominent news feature in recent weeks and has stirred up emotions of anger from some. Her comments on the Manchester arena attack, and the lack of remorse she has shown for joining the Islamic state in 2015, which arose during her plea to return to the UK with her child, have resulted in resentment from the Merseyside shooting range customers.

A spokesperson from the range reported that after receiving multiple requests from customers with “record numbers” wanting a target of the IS bride, they made the decision to comply.

The Ultimate Airsoft Range

issued a Tweet of the new design featuring Shamima Begum with the hash tags “Made your choice” and “No remorse”. The tweet has since been taken down after questions surfaced of its appropriateness. However, the company chose to stand by their decision and reported that they had other targets of people such as Donald Trump, Adolf Hitler and Justin Bieber at popular request which they hadn’t been asked to remove.

The range prides itself for its intent to teach the importance of handling weapons whilst having fun and believes its targets “provide some fantastic reactions and conversations” for its members. The range is open to anyone of the age of 6 and upwards.

This seems implausible, but on 22th February 2019, a dead humpback whale was found in the middle of undergrowth on the island of Marajo, at the mouth of the Amazon River! Dirlene Silva found the 12 month old calf ‘because of the presence of scavenging birds of prey.’

Scientists believe that this aquatic mammal was already dead when huge waves carried it to its strange resting place. Another reason reported is it was

transported by aliens! In Marajo, tides can reach up to about 7 meters, and because of the full moon recently it could have ‘easily’ pushed the lifeless whale 50 feet inland.

Its death is still a mystery. It is

likely it was a calf that was

separated from its mother which

wandered to the mouth of the

Amazon for food. It could have

consumed too much plastic and

suffocated. However, why it was

Steam Rally at Whitwell and Reepham Pt. 1 —RIO, YEAR 7

The 2018 steam rally at Whitwell and Reepham Railway went down a right storm, with our 0-4-0st “Victory” hauling her trusty brakevan. As well as Georgie - one of our diesel locomotives- doing driver for a fiver in the yard as well as “North British” hauling a goods train. And Victory was running passenger trains from the shed to the model club. She also wore the head board “Norfolk Warrior”. Agercroft no3 was on display but no boiler was yet to be seen as it was still at the north norfolk boiler works being worked on. There were probably about 20-30 different road locomotives. Up at the top field light railway we had a GWR 14xx and a chaloner locomotive both hauling passenger trains. This event was a 2 day event. All of the crews ( including me ) had a good old fry-up in the morning. So that is probably all which sums up this event.

THE MODELSHOW

On the 18th of November 2018 at Whitwell and Reepham Railway we had are annual Model Railway show. Usually this event is on in July but some numpty booked accidently (hopefully) booked a wedding on the original day so it was delayed to next a time. But I suppose it is a bit of luck really. Reason why I say is because, the railways steam locomotive was supposed to run— but because of reasons which I shall not discuss here on the WRR’ s behalf- she was not available.

and they starve. Another threat is that because it rains so much (it is England after all), it will begin to cause floods in areas like salt marshes . This all has a devastating impact on the wildlife, such as badgers, birds, moles and even hedgehogs. Think of the poor hedgehogs!

How can you help stop the hedgehogs being harmed (as well as all the other animals)? Well you can start by doing simple things such as, walking to school, or places nearby. I’m not telling you that you have to walk all the way to Australia, or wherever you go on holiday, walking small distances still helps. You could even badger your parents to get energy efficient light bulbs. Recycling is also a really crucial thing to do to help, do you know how much plastic goes into our sea every day? A truck full every minute! Because they have to keep producing all of this plastic, energy emissions are through the roof creating more greenhouse gases

When you think about climate change the first thing that comes into your mind are the polar bears! Or something to do with the ice caps melting, you wouldn’t stop to think, how does this affect our country? It still does, but you don’t always think about the UK like that.

So what does have an effect on the environment? Well, for one, the climate change changes the weather, so that in summer it gets hotter and causes more droughts. The animals then start to become dehydrated. Or in winter it gets harsher and even more freezing, so those poor animals struggle to find food

than the world can cope with. So just by researching simple things that you can do (and pestering your friends and family to do them as well) will help the earth to survive.

But the repairs on Loch Ranoch were done by the first november in time to have her run on TFLR portable track. But there were still train rides on the standard gauge line with TIPOCKITY and Gorgie the railways 2 operational diesel locomotives. Model railways on display included: 4 oo, 1 o gauge, 20009 railways and 3 shops / stands. The WRR model engineers’ club stand included: there base model railway, mobile railway and many interesting members’ items.

VICTORY 2018 Our steam locomotive victory is an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0st painted in wartime livery. In case you are wondering where the name is from it is, she was named ‘Victory’ after the victory of the war. She has also steamed quite good this year with lots of repair work done on her and a new coat of paint.

The Academy Awards are arguably one of the most popular annual ceremonies, dating back to 1929 when it started. The event commemorates the greatest cinematic achievements of the previous year, and it usually takes place in February.

There are various nominations which are separated into 24 categories such as best lead actress, best picture and best animated short film. After the nominees are announced, only one can truly win for each category, which is then followed by an acceptance speech.

This year the Oscars will be marking its 91st edition, taking place on February 24th. In late January, nominations were revealed to the public and amongst the long list, there are a few well known celebrities like Lady Gaga, for her lead role in “A Star is Born”, Emma Stone, for her supporting role in “The Favourite” and Bradley Cooper, for his lead role in “A Star is Born”.

For the best picture, many films were nominated, including “Black Panther”, ”Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Green Book”. In regards of who will be hosting the event this year, Kevin Hart was the original choice. However, three days after his position was announced, the comedian had to give it up as some controversial tweets from his past were resurfaced, causing public outrage. As of today, the replacement for the host position is unknown.

Moving on from the different aspects

of the actual event, one of the main

things associated with it is the red

Discography

Little Mix released their debut album DNA in 2012, which peaked inside the top 10 in ten countries including the UK and US. Awards

The group won Best British Single for "Shout Out to My Ex" at the 2017 Brit Awards; they have also received several other awards during their career, including two MTV Europe Music Awards, two Teen Choice Awards and two Glamour Awards. As of August 2018, the group has achieved four platinum certified albums and sixteen certified singles in the UK. Little Mix appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK.

Little Mix

Little Mix are a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth series of the UK version of The X Factor. They were the first group to win the competition, and following their victory, they signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music and released a cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball" as their winner's single. The members are Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson.

Grand inspiration

It was difficult at first because I hadn’t had much experience previously but my Granddad was always very musically-talented and so maybe that’s why I was able to pick it up rather hastily. After maybe a week I got to the point where I was strumming ‘Castle on the Hill’ approximately 5 billion times a day and it was no longer sounding satanic, and that’s when I figured I was a musical genius so I could persist with my own career path and write some songs of my own...

Well actually the first couple of songs I wrote weren’t entirely on my own - my sister had apparently inherited the same ability as me and had also learnt the guitar in next to no time, so her and I worked on some songs together in order to gain some confidence in ourselves. It was really fun. Family bonding time had never felt so free and rewarding, and not to ‘toot my own horn’ but I actually quite enjoyed the songs we wrote!

Humble start

I then determined that I had prolonged my journey for too long and decided to go solo… I wasn’t so great. The first song I wrote made me want to abandon my own soul and shout very sternly at it (perhaps even give it a finger-wag to convey how intensely it had messed up). But then with each song I seemingly got better and I managed to think of some apparently very catchy choruses - it was one of the best times of my life. I felt like I had found myself in my music, albeit they were extremely generic, one might say I was even proud of myself.

Evolving

In all seriousness, learning to play the

guitar and playing it in front of people

really helped me in a lot of ways. I

learnt to be more creative, to be

persistent with the things I loved and

most of all I felt good about myself, and

with every performance I seemed to

gain a little more me.

People often say that I idolise Ed Sheeran to the point where I’m on the brink of insanity, and well, they may well be right - it’s for good reason though! When he released his album ‘Divide’ in the early months of 2017, a slightly younger me was mesmerized by the way he played live, and I wanted to have a similar, hypnotic effect on people; hence why I started to learn to play the guitar.

How many superheroes movies can you think of that have an Asian lead character? I can’t name any. I doubt you can either. Am I wrong? There is so much to explore with Asian culture: I mean there are 4.5 billion of us after all and I, for one, believe that we should especially in this day and age of equality and representation. Because in today’s world, its non-existent.

I’m sure you’ve seen or heard about the fairly recent release of Black Panther. It would be hard not to, being critically acclaimed and pulling in over $1.1 billion from the worldwide box office. This was a huge breakthrough because people were thrilled to see a superhero become mainstream and becoming the face of representation of black culture in modern pop culture. Furthermore, Women just started to become the face of superheroes everywhere with the releases of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel inspiring so many little girls and empowering them. So with all that in mind, especially with the theme of equality raging through the veins of society in today’s world, don’t you think that we have the responsibility to make every group of people feel like they’re part of us, including Asians?

You may think that this article is actually irrelevant at the moment because of the recent announcement

of the Marvel movie, Shang-Chi. Oh wait, you probably haven’t. Now this is because virtually no effort has been made to advertise this movie at all. That’s not even the only issue with this movie. I bet that you can’t guess his main ability. That’s right, it’s Kung Fu. What a surprise.

How many times have we seen this stereotype played out on the big screen? Too many to count really, right? Now, I’m Asian and I have no knowledge of any Kung Fu whatsoever and don’t actually have any Asian friends that do. Making up around 60% of the population, you would think that there is so much subject matter to cover that hasn’t got anything to do with martial arts. I mean you could easily make an engaging, emotional story about the Nepalese Gurkhas or maybe Buddhism.

So when are we going to see a non-

stereotypical superhero movie that

features an Asian lead? Probably not for a

while considering the process of making a

whole string of comic books which have to

become popular first. We might not see

these groups represented in the world of

today but we can keep pushing for

equality in the world of tomorrow.

Although the demonstrations were initially a call to reduce prices, it is argued that non-conformists are being politically exploited now by opposition parties for their own hegemony and overthrow the government.

Food prices soar

Demanding the termination of President Omar Al-Bashir’s 30 year old dictatorship has only now begun as prices have soared, medicine has become scarce and quality of life has massively degraded due to corruption in the government. A Sudanese migrant living in the UK stated that “President Al-Bashir was a miracle before; saving the country from economic breakdown, however when the money came in [due to petrol manufacturing], the countdown to a time bomb waiting to explode was triggered”. Corruption started.

Sudanese unrest

Peaceful uprisings began in Sudan in the 19th December 2018: continuing for six weeks and until now. Those protesting against the tripling of bread prices and lack of fuel were attacked with live fire and tear gas, launched by people carrying assault rifles; some wearing civilian clothes. One of the citizens reported that “even police are now shameful of their acts’’ as they began to wear face masks to hide their faces from activists. Protesters have took up the slogan “the people want the fall of the regime’’ reminiscent of the Arab Spring uprisings of 2011.

A tech-informed generation

In Sudan, a well-informed generation has now grown. The iPhone and technology may be normal here in the West but the internet has informed everyone who have come to know their rights and objectives. It has also become a tool to carry details of demonstrations and marches to those around the country.

Change needed for dignity

This generation wishes for change and economic development where quality of life allows you to have bread at least. Food allows for dignity to be kept. Under any ruler, under any regime, under any...food is the key to survival, without it there are no boundaries left to break.

Suffragette: A woman seeking the right to vote through organized protest. Emily Davison an influential suffragette who met a terrible fate. Miss Davison was born in south-east London on the 11th October 1872. Emily was the third of four children born to the couple; her younger sister died of diphtheria in 1880 at the age of six. The marriage to Margaret was Charles's second; his first marriage produced nine children before the death of his wife in 1866. Davison joined the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in November 1906. Formed in 1903 by Emmeline Pankhurst, the WSPU brought together those who thought that militant, confrontational tactics were needed to achieve their ultimate goal of women's suffrage. She began taking increasingly confrontational actions, which prompted Sylvia Pankhurst—the daughter of Emmeline and a full-time member of the WSPU—to describe her as "one of the most daring and reckless of the militants". In March 1909 she was arrested for the first time; she had been part of a group of 21 women who

marched from Caxton Hall to see the prime minister, H. H. Asquith, the march ended in a fight with police, and she was arrested for "assaulting the police in the execution of their duty". She was sentenced to a month in prison. In July 1909 Davison was arrested with fellow for interrupting a public meeting from which women were barred, she was sentenced to two months for obstruction. She went on hunger strike and was released after five and a half days, during which time she lost 21 pounds (9.5 kg); she stated that she "felt very weak" as a result She was arrested again in September the same year for throwing stones to break windows at a political meeting; the assembly, which was to protest at the 1909 budget, was only open to men. She was sent to Strangeways prison for two months. She again went on hunger strike and was released after two and a half days.

On the fatal day the 4th of June 1913 she took the journey that would result in her death. She went to the Epsom, a horse racing stadium. She positioned herself at Tattenham Corner, the final bend before the home straight. At this point in the race, with some of the horses having passed her, she ducked under the guard rail and ran onto the course; she may have held in her hands one of the suffragette flags. She reached up to the reins of the horse Anmer—King George V's horse and was hit by the animal, which would have been travelling at around 35 miles (56 km) per hour. Anmer fell in the collision and partly rolled over his jockey, who had his foot momentarily caught in the stirrup. Davison was knocked to the ground unconscious; some reports say she was kicked in the head by Anmer, but the surgeon who operated on Davison stated that "I could find no trace of her having been kicked by a horse". The event was captured on three news cameras. What a price. For equality: The suffragette helped the movement so much. Emily Davison: A suffragette who changed it all.

Every Monday after school I’m really excited because I go to the UEA

Gymnastics Club and it’s really fun. I love it. Once they’ve called my group out I run to sit on the tumble track. I look around and all I see is gymnastics equipment everywhere. The leader does the register then once we’re done, we go and warm up.

After we warm up, we go to our gymnastics leaders and we go to either: bars, rings, floor, tumble track, trampoline, beam or foam bit.

My gymnastics leader said we are going to the rings first. I love rings and she always says get into a single file line and I always want to go first. When it is my turn, I walk up to the ladder and swung from the rings. I have to do a pike on them first and then do a back flip from them.

Once everyone has finished rings we move to bars. I love bars too. My leader said we have to do a back flip a front flip. When it is my go, I get onto the bar and it is so much fun. Some people stay at the back because they don’t want to do it. But my leader saw them and made them do it. 5 minutes later, we have to switch to another activity.

We move to beam. Beam for me is ok; I’m not the best at it. She told us to do a handstand, a cartwheel and a forward roll. Sometimes I fall off the beam but I am ok this time. When I is my go I fall off doing a cartwheel but I am fine with the other two.

Once everyone has done with beam, we sit on the tumble track and the leaders tell us what we have done well. Then we get to go back to our parents and head home.

You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you’re going for Gold) – Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential.

You’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).

The best bit is – you get to choose what you do!

Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

He was scientific in his approach to painting, and ambitious; he wanted to create a world which was still and precise, unlike the more spontaneous and free Impressionists (think Van Gogh and Monet) that his painting evolved from.

Georges Seurat was a French painter in the 19th century with a radical new idea—that pointing in dots was able to produce a brighter colour than painting in strokes, like traditional painters. He developed this style of painting called ‘Pointilism’, which also involved focusing on shapes rather than on the personality of the things he painted—that’s why all the people look quite blocky

Pointilism in action!

Ellie, Year 7

Lyla was on her way home from school when she suddenly realised what day it was - the day before Valentine’s Day. She knew exactly who she wanted her valentine to be, so she had to go out and buy some chocolates for him. So, she stopped off at the local store and bought a chocolate rose and a card. When she got home, she wrote:

Dear Louis, I love you and I’m sorry, but that is just how I feel, I have known it for a long time now that you are the one for me…

Lots of love from, your valentine xxxxxxxx

It was perfect. She sealed it shut and put it by the door with the chocolate rose. The next day at school, she put the rose and card in Louis’ locker and hurried to hers to see if anybody had left her anything yet. She was shocked to see they had!

Without hesitation, Lyla opened the card and read;

Dear Lyla, I love you with every bit of my heart…

A heart full of love from, Louis xxxxooooxoxoxoxo

Lyla dropped her books and immediately went to see Louis, but when she turned the corner, what she saw was not what she had expected at all…

A random girl in her year was kissing Louis. Lyla was flabbergasted, then she realised, LOUIS THOUGHT THAT HER GIFT AND LOVE NOTE WAS FROM THAT GIRL HE WAS KISSING!!! But she was sooo wrong…

Earlier that morning, Lyla’s friend Abigail had put a fake love note from Louis in her locker, so that Lyla would believe it was from Louis. After Lyla had put her note and gift in Louis’ locker, that girl had then put a note in his locker too. When Louis opened his

locker and saw the two notes, he only opened the one he knew would be from the girl he loved and ignored Lyla’s. Then Louis and that random girl started dating. Instead of dwelling on it, on the way home that day, Lyla stopped off at the adoption agency and adopted a Border Collie which she called Max. Now Lyla and Max do everything together and Louis is stuck dating a girl who he grew to realise was a total idiot.

"Oh," said Patty, watching the

postman's blue coat up the street. "I

wish he would come here the day

after tomorrow and bring me twenty

valentines!

“Will he, Misty (Misty is the house

pet)?" Jimmy-Boy asked eagerly.

Patty shook her head. "'Course not,

Jimmy-Boy. I know only six girls; I

couldn't get but six.”

Aunt Leaser was listening. She was

Patty's very prettiest auntie from the

city, and she nearly always found a

way to help. “How would you like to

send twenty Valentines?" she asked.

Patty laughed. "Why, auntie, I

couldn't send six, either. I don't know

any more girls. Besides, I haven't

any more Valentines.”

“Suppose I should show you how to

make twenty Valentines, and find

twenty girls to send them to; would

you like to do it?”

Patty came running from the window

with Jimmy-Boy close behind her.

“I’d love to, Auntie Leaser! Please

show me please!”

“Love to, auntie, right away," echoed

Jimmy-Boy.

“You can help," Aunt Leaser promised.

"You can bring the tape while Patty

gets the scissors.”

When they came back with these, Aunt

Leaser had a pile of Valentine’s

pictures on the table, and some sheets

of thick white paper. “We will cut this

into hearts," she said, "and you can cut

out these birds and flowers and paste

them on. Let's see which can make the

neatest and prettiest one.”

Jimmy-Boy had to be helped a little in

cutting out pictures, but he had learned

to paste neatly at kindergarten, and his

Valentines were so pretty it was hard

for Aunt Leaser to choose between his

and Patty’s.

It was such fun making them that Patty

almost forgot about the twenty girls

they were to go to.

“Who are they, auntie?" she asked

when she remembered. "Where do

they live?”

“Away down in the city," Aunt Leaser

explained. "Each one in a little white

bed in a Children's Hospital. I don't know

their names, but I'll send them to the

superintendent, and they will get them

safely on Valentine's Day. You can't

imagine how happy they will be.

“Oh, I just like to try to think!" cried Patty.

"I'm glad we made them so nice.”

The twenty Valentines went off in their

white envelopes the next morning to the

Children’s Hospital.

28 year old Emiliano Sala was on a plane destined to Wales to start a new career with Premier League side Cardiff City. The Argentinian striker’s plane crashed into the English Channel on 21st January.

Authorities started searching immediately, and after covering around 1,700 miles they gave up searching for Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson. Many celebrities, footballers, managers and fans prayed for Sala and David on social media and pleaded to rescuers to continue their search.

Emiliano’s former team mate at French club Caen N’golo Kante offered to pay for all further costs for searches to continue. Sala’s sister Romina Sala made a video urging people to raise awareness to the authorities that they need to keep searching for her brother. On February 4th 15 days after Emiliano Raul Sala Taffarel and David Ibbotson first went missing, the plane was found in the English Channel.

Recovered

A body was successfully recovered from the plane on 6th of February and later that night the body was identified as Emiliano Sala’s. This leads people to wonder where the body of pilot David Ibbotson is.

Investigations are working on how the plane crashed. There was an audio clip realised of a man talking about how they are excited for his new career and how the plane is damaged and how it may go down. However, it’s not been verified if it’s Sala speaking, but reliable sources have posted the clip which makes it more likely to be true. The worry is that it could be a sick person trying to make a twisted joke. If any more information comes out we will be covering it in the next issue.

Shock and respect

This has been shocking and upsetting news for the football community; football matches across have had minute

silences. When Arsenal played Cardiff City, Sala’s name was put on the Cardiff team sheet to pay their respects. And

when Bobby Reid scored against Bournemouth, he celebrated by holding up a shirt with a picture of Emiliano Sala printed

on the front.

This legendary club has done some truly amazing things but they are still yet to win the Premier League but they are on track to win it this year and I predict they will.

Liverpool football club was established in 1892, which is on the badge and since then they have won 58 major club honours and 10 of which did in fact arrive in last 10 years. These honour are: 18 Football League First Division titles (the old Premier League), 5 Champions League trophies (also finishing 2nd in the latest Champions League losing 3-1 to Real Madrid and is British record), 3 UEFA Cup wins (British record) , 7 time FA Cup winners, 8 League Cup wins (English record), winners of the Charity Shield 15 times and one Super Cup win.

ENGLAND’S WOMEN’S WORLD CUP SQUAD

If you’re a football fan you would know that in 4 months it’s the FIFA Women’s World Cup and it will be hosted in France surprisingly.

So far the United States team is the most successful team winning 3 world cups. Ironically, the men's USA team didn’t EVEN qualify for this year’s World Cup.

From an outside point of view, I think Germany will win this one.

The offensive players, however, have several rules that define their position and what role they may take in the offense. Seven offensive players must be lined up on the line of scrimmage. The other four players must be lined up at least one yard behind the line of scrimmage. All of the offensive football players must be set, or still, prior to the play beginning with the exception of one of the four backs which may be moving parallel or away from the line of scrimmage. Further rules say that only the four backs and the players at each end of the line of scrimmage may catch a pass or run the football.

The rules in football allow each team to have eleven players on the field at a time. Teams may substitute players between plays with no restrictions. Each team must start a play on their side of the ball.

The defensive players may take any position they want and can move about their side of the football prior to the play without restriction. Although there are certain defensive positions that have become common over time, there are no specific rules defining defensive positions or roles.

A defensive line

The slogan of the club is “You’ll never walk alone.” They play at the ground Anfield which they use to share with Everton (their rivals) but the board of Everton got frustrated and moved out and built Goodison Park which is where Everton play their home games and is 1.2 miles away from Anfield. Anfield can hold up to 45,000. Anfield is mostly famous for the sign in the players tunnels, which says “This is Anfield.” The person that owns Liverpool is John Henry.

I think Bob Paisley was their best manager winning loads of trophies which are: 6 first division champions, 3 league cups,3 European cups, one UEFA cup, one European Super Cup and 6 FA Charity Shields. After Bill Shankly’s success, Bob Paisley stepped up and had tremendous success. He was a one-club man but unfortunately in 1954

his career was cut short due to World War 2.

But it looks like Jurgen Klopp will overtake him soon. The best ever Liverpool player in my opinion is Steven Gerrard, he was a center midfielder and made 504 appearances and 120 goals which is rare for a midfielder. He had a 0.24 goals per match ratio and he also assisted 92 times.

Robbie Fowler holds the record of the fastest hat trick in the Premier League in just 4 minutes and 33 seconds.
