Psychics and Mediums

Question: Are Catholics allowed to visit psychics? Why or why not? Answer: It’s part of human nature to experience some sense of unease and fear about the future. This can lead some people to seek out the services of psychics or consult horoscopes or turn to other occult practices or resources (e.g. Ouija boards or tarot cards). The Cate-chism of the Catholic Church is very clear that Catholics should avoid such practices: “Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm read-ing, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoy-ance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone” (no. 2116). Despite the uncertainties we might feel, we are called to have faith and trust in God, confident of God’s desire for what is best for us. This means that we are called to surrender, to pray and to reflect on how we can best move into the future in hope, knowing that God is with us.

Knights Corner

Knights of Columbus Council #9467 invites practicing Catholic men to join us. Also, if you are a new parishioner who is already a Knight, we invite you to transfer from your previous council. Contact our local Grand Knight for free 2021 membership.

You cannot be half a saint; you must be a whole saint or no saint at all. - St. Therese of Lisieux

Aid to Women Center would like to share that St. Henry parish was so generous and we are sincerely grateful.

The total raised was $12,536.91 and there are additional baby bottles that were turned in late which we have yet to count.

Thank you for the support. Two weeks ago we had three women who came to us abortion-minded that had a change of heart and mind and are going to parent instead.

For Life, Anne Dennis

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS Coming Soon! A 3-part series on the life of Jesus presented by your pastor Fr. Kosco based upon Steve Ray’s documen-tary on the life of our Savior.

Thursday evenings November 4, 11, 18 from 6:30-8:00pm in the parish hall. Let’s get back to basics and study the life of Jesus together as a parish.
