MY STEPS

1. Attend a Volunteer Orientation at the Wake County SPCA and begin volunteering.

2. Volunteer at an adoption event and a fundraising event for the SPCA. Howl-o-ween

Midtown Barks and Recreation

3. Start supplies drive for the Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL) at Amelia Christian Church.

4. End supplies drive and donate all collected pet supplies to the JCAPL.

5. Shadow my mentor at Town and Country animal hospital.

PROBLEMS

• The SPCA has a great, organized volunteer program and I was able

to get many service hours• Collected a combined $542.25 in

pet supplies, coupons, and money for the JCAPL

• Everyone I encountered was helpful to me

SUCCESSES

• I need to work on being more open and outgoing when I’m in new places or around people I’ve never met before

• When I start things ahead of time, it shows and I work much more efficiently

• I can do anything I set my mind to

THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT

MYSELF

• Working with animals is definitely something I can see myself doing

• Surgeries don’t bother me• Being a veterinarian is a challenging

and (sometimes) messy job• I still have a lot of volunteering to do

and experience I need to decide whether or not this is the career path for me

• YES!!!• I continue to volunteer at the SPCA• I’ve met and made relationships

with professionals in the field• The experience I gained helped me

earn valuable insight into a future career path
