IntroductionISM Sprinkler TimerThank you for purchasing a Rain Bird ISMSprinkler Timer. This manual shows how toinstall, program, and operate your irrigationsystem timer (sometimes called a “control-ler”). Please read these instructions carefullyand keep this manual in the slot behind thetimer for future reference.

The Rain Bird ISM is a compact, easy-to-usesprinkler timer that offers the followingfeatures:

• Three programs, with independentwatering days

• Up to four watering start times perprogram

• Option to set any day of the week as awatering day

• Seasonal adjust feature across allprograms

• Battery backup to retain time, date, andprogramming during power outages

• Three-year Customer Satisfaction Policy

Sprinkler Timer StationsThe Rain Bird ISM is an electronic timer thatcontrols when your sprinkler system turns on,and how long the sprinklers run.

The ISM can control 4, 6 or 9 watering“stations” (depending on the model). Astation is a series of sprinklers, or otherirrigation devices, connected to a commonremote control valve. When the valve

receives a signal from the timer, the valveopens and turns on the sprinklers connectedto it.

This illustration shows a diagram of a stationlayout. Station 1 is currently watering. Whenstation 1 finishes, the timer shuts it off andturns on station 2. When station 2 finisheswatering, station 3 begins, and so on.


What Is a Program?Programming is the process of telling thetimer exactly when and how long you want towater. The timer opens and closes theremote control valves for each stationaccording to the program you set.

The ISM offers three independent programs;A, B and C. Each program controls from oneto nine stations, and lets you customize yourwatering schedules to meet the needs ofdifferent types of plants, soil conditions,slopes, shady or sunny areas, etc.

You will need to understand the followingterms to successfully program your ISMsprinkler timer.

• Watering day cycle - The period of days inwhich the timer repeats the program youset. For example, a 5-day cycle is aweekly schedule that repeats once everyfive days. A 2-day cycle repeats everyother day.

• Days to water - The specific days withinthe watering day cycle when watering

takes place. In a 7-day cycle, you mayselect multiple watering days within thecycle. For example, you might water onday 1 (Monday), day 3 (Wednesday), andday 5 (Friday). In a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6-daycycle, day 1 is always the only wateringday. A 2-day cycle waters on day 1, skipsa day, and then waters again on day 1 asthe cycle repeats. A 3-day cycle waters onday 1, skips 2 days, and then repeats.

• Watering Start time - This is the time thefirst station in a program begins watering.All other programmed stations then followin sequence. Each program may have upto four start times. For example, a pro-gram could begin watering at 6:00 a.m.,10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 6:00 p.m.

NOTE: The term “watering start time”refers to the time the programbegins - not duration of time thateach station will run.

• Duration - The number of minutes thateach station runs.


Sprinkler Timer BasicsProgramming Under Battery PowerIf you wish, you can program the timer underbattery power. This feature can be useful ifthe timer is installed in an area that is notreadily accessible. This feature also allowsyou to enter program information beforeinstalling the timer.

To program the ISM sprinkler timer underbattery power, you must first install thebattery.

NOTE: To save battery power, the ISMgoes into “sleep” mode after aperiod of inactivity on the program-ming dial or buttons. Press anybutton once to reactivate the timer.


Installing the BatteryThe battery back-up feature retains time,date, and programming information duringpower outages. The battery also lets youprogram the timer under battery powerbefore it is connected to an AC powersupply.

For best results, use a long-life, 9-Voltalkaline battery. A new battery will normallyprovide power for up to one year. Replacethe battery yearly to ensure an uninterruptedpower supply.

NOTE: Make sure the timer isconnected to an AC power supplywhen replacing the battery, or youwill lose all programming informationincluding date and time.

To install the battery:

1. Remove the timer’s lower access cover toexpose the battery compartment.

2. Snap the two-wire battery clip onto theterminals of the new battery. If you arereplacing an old battery, dispose of the oldbattery properly.

3. Insert the new battery snugly into thebattery compartment.

4. Replace the lower access cover.

NOTE: If no battery is installed, shortcircuit detection may not function asdesired. Please ensure the battery isinstalled prior to the operation.


Controls and IndicatorsThis illustration shows the programmingcontrols on the face of the ISM sprinklertimer. These controls include:

1. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) - Duringnormal operation, displays the time of dayand the programs that will run today.During programming, shows the results ofyour commands. During watering, showsthe station that is running, the minutesremaining in the station’s run time, andwhether another program is waiting towater.

2. Up and Down (+) or (-) buttons - Set starttimes and days, and make programmingchanges.

3. Enter button - Enters programmingcommands, and starts manual operation.

4. Prog ABC button - Selects wateringprogram A, B or C.

5. Programming Dial - Turns the timer off oron and selects other programmingfunctions.

Sprinkler Timer Programming ChartBefore programming your ISM, fill out theProgramming Chart included with your timer.Then program the timer in the order shownon the Programming Checklist. Page 14shows a completed programming chart.

1. Select the watering day cycle you wish touse, and circle the watering days withinthe cycle. In the example shown forprogram A, the operator has chosen a 7-day watering cycle and circled M, W, andF as watering days. This means thatprogram A will water every Monday,Wednesday, and Friday.

2. For program B, the operator selected a 3-day watering cycle. With these selections,program B will water once, skip two days,and then water again on the first day of anew three day cycle.

3. You may also choose three special wate-ring day cycles that do not require you toselect watering days. These cycles are:

• Ev = Waters only on even-numbered

days of the month.

• Od = Waters only on odd-numbereddays of the month.

• Od31 = Waters only on odd-numbereddays of the month, but not on the 31st ofany month or on February 29. (This wate-ring day cycle complies with special ordi-nances in some water-restricted areas).

4. In the Start Times box for program A,write the time you want the program tobegin watering. You may assign up to fourwatering start times to each program. Ifyou want the program to water only onceeach watering day, enter only one starttime. Enter other start times only if youwant to repeat the entire program morethan once each watering day.

5. Enter the watering start time for programB (if any). In the example, Program Abegins watering at 7 a.m. Program Bbegins watering twice each watering day,once at 5 a.m. and again at 3 p.m.


NOTE: If the total run time for oneprogram overlaps the start time for asecond program, the timer willautomatically “stack” the programsand delay the start time of thesecond program until the firstprogram finishes watering.

6. Next to each station number, enter a briefdescription of the area covered by eachtimer station. Remember, a “station” is aset of sprinklers operated by one remotecontrol valve.

This example shows six currently assignedstations, but your ISM may be able tocontrol more or less depending on themodel.

7. In the Station Duration column for eachprogram, enter the number of minutes youwant each station to run.

Notice that stations 1 through 4 areassigned to program A, while stations 5and 6 are assigned to program B. The ISMallows you to use the same station inmultiple programs for special wateringneeds. However, for most applications,choosing not to repeat a station makesprogramming simpler.

NOTE: Anytime you use the“Seasonal Adjustment” feature (seepage 28) the setting applies to allprograms (A, B and C).


Programming the Sprinkler TimerErase Any Existing ProgrammingUse the following procedure any time youwant to erase all programming in the timer’smemory and “start from scratch”.

1. Unplug the transformer from the wall.

2. Disconnect the battery clip from thebattery.

3. Wait 10 seconds.

4. Reconnect the battery clip to the battery.

5. Plug the transformer back into the wall.

“AM 12:00” will appear in the display. Allprevious programming is now erased, andyou may turn the Programming Dial to theSet Current DATE/TIME position and beginsetting the Year, Month, Day, and Time.

Set Year1. Turn the Programming Dial to Set CurrentDATE/TIME position.

2. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set thecurrent year.

3. Press Enter.


Set Month and Day1. After setting the correct year, leave the

Programming Dial on Set Current DATE/TIME.

2. The month and day appear as “01 01,”with the first “01” flashing (representing themonth). A cursor will appear under the SetMonth icon.

3. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set thecurrent month (1 through 12).

4. Press Enter.

5. The second “01” begins flashing(representing the day of the month). Acursor will appear under the Set Day icon.

6. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set thecurrent day (1 through 31).

7. Press Enter.


Set Time1. After setting the correct month and date,

leave the Programming Dial on Set CurrentDATE/TIME.

2. The time of day appears in the display. Thedisplay will also show AM or PM (forexample, 12:01 AM).

A cursor will appear under the Set Timesicon.

3. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set thecurrent hour (1 through 12 AM or PM).

4. Press Enter.

5. The minute digits begin flashing.

6. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set thecurrent minute (1 through 59).

7. Press Enter. Turn the Programming Dialback to the SYSTEM ON position.


Pre-Programmed SchedulesE1) appears in the display.

3. To select one of the other pre-pro-grammed schedules, press the (+) or (-)buttons until the desired schedule appearsin the display.

4. Press the Prog ABC button until the desiredprogram letter (A, B or C) appears in thedisplay with the pre-programmedschedule.

5. Then press Enter. The program letterflashes to confirm your selection.

After selecting a pre-programmed schedule,you can modify the program settings(watering day, watering start time, etc.) byusing the programming steps given on thefollowing pages.

6. Turn the Programming Dial back to theSYSTEM ON position.

Use this procedure if you want to select apre-programmed schedule. If you want to setyour own custom watering schedule, godirectly to Select Program (A, B or C) onpage 19.

For your convenience, the ISM has THREEPRE-PROGRAMMED watering schedulesyou can select for any program (A, B or C).These schedules are already programmedinto the timer, and are shown below.

• Pre-Programmed 1 (5 Pr E1) - Waters allstations for five minutes three times everyday at 6 a.m., 10 a.m., and 2 p.m.

• Pre-Programmed 2 (10 Pr E2) - Waters allstations for ten minutes every other day at6 a.m.

• Pre-Programmed 3 (10 Pr E3) - Waters allstations for ten minutes every third day at6 a.m.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to PRE-PROGRAMMED SCHEDULES.

2. The first pre-programmed schedule (5 Pr


Select Program (A, B or C)Program A is already programmed for yourconvenience. You can also completelycustomize your own watering schedules byfollowing the steps on page 20-25.Programs B and C are not pre-programmed.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to SETWATERING DAY CYCLE.

2. The letter of the currently selectedprogram (A, B or C) appears in the display.

3. Press the Prog ABC button until the desiredprogram (A, B or C) appears in the display.Remember, if you plan to use only oneprogram, use program A.

NOTE: It is easier to select oneprogram (A, B or C) and program itcompletely before moving on to thenext program. Switching fromprogram to program can beconfusing.


Set Watering Day CycleUse the procedure below if you want to setyour own custom watering schedule. Makesure the Programming Dial is on SETWATERING DAY CYCLE.

NOTE: If you have selected a pre-programmed schedule (page 18),skip this page. Go directly to “SetProgram Watering Start Time(s)” onpage 23.

1. Press the (+) or (-) buttons until thewatering day cycle you want to useappears in the display along with theselected program (A, B or C). Availablewatering day cycles include:

• 7-day (Custom) - Waters on a weeklycycle; any day of the week can be awatering day.

• Ev - Waters only on even-numbered days.

• Od - Waters only on odd-numbered days.

• Od31 - Waters only on odd-numbereddays, except the 31st of any month and

February 29th. (This watering day cyclecomplies with special ordinances in somewater-restricted areas).

• 2-, 3-, 4-, 5 or 6-day - Waters only onthe first day of a repeating 2-, 3-, or 5-daycycle.

2. If you select a 7-day, or a 2-, 3-, 4-, 5 or6-day watering cycle, go to “Select Daysto Water” on page 22.

NOTE: If you select Ev, Od, Od31 or 1day as your watering day cycle, youdo not have to select the wateringdays. Go directly to “Set ProgramWatering Start Time(s)” on page 23.


Select Days to WaterUse the procedure below to select thewatering days for a 7-day custom wateringcycle.

7-Day Watering Cycle1. Turn the Programming Dial to SELECT DAYS

TO WATER.

2. If you selected a 7-day watering cycle, theseven weekdays appear as a row ofnumbers and the number “1” in the daycycle flashes (day 1 is Monday, day 2 isTuesday, etc).

3. The display shows the program’s letter (A,B or C).

4. A number appears, indicating the “today”number (the day on which you areprogramming the timer). The day’sabbreviation also appears in the display.

5. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to turn aparticular watering day ON or OFF. An ONday has a box around it. An OFF day hasno box around it.

6. Press Enter to move to the next day.

7. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for each day.

8. Proceed to set to SET WATERING STARTTIME(S).


2-, 3-, 4-, 5 or 6-DayWatering CycleUse the procedure below if you selected a 2-,3-, 4-, 5 or 6-day watering cycle.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to SELECT DAYSTO WATER .

2. If you selected a 2-, 3-, 4-, 5 or 6-daywatering cycle, the row of days in thatcycle appears in the display with a boxaround day 1.

NOTE: The only watering day in a 2-,3-, 4-, 5 or 6-day cycle is day 1.

3. The display shows the program’s letter (A,B or C).

4. A flashing number appears in the display,indicating where “today” is in the wateringcycle.

5. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to movetoday’s position in the watering cycle.

You may now set program watering starttimes as shown on page 23.


Set Program Watering Start Time(s)4 to set up to four separate watering starttimes for each program, if needed.

NOTE: If you selected one of the pre-programmed schedules, you will seethe default watering start time(s) forthat schedule.

The watering start time for your program isthe time that the first programmed stationbegins to run. Up to 4 watering start timesmay be entered per program. Eachsubsequent station will then run in sequence.There is a 2-second delay between theactivation of stations.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to SETWATERING START TIME.

2. The program letter (A, B or C), the number“1” (indicating the earliest start time), anda row of four dashes “--.--” appear in thedisplay.

3. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set theprogram start time. If you want all thestations on the program to run only onceeach watering day, enter only one starttime for the program.

4. To enter another watering start time, pressEnter. The next watering start time number(2-, 3 or 4) and a row of four dashesappear in the display. Repeat steps 3 and


Delete Program Watering Start Time(s)the display.

5. Turn the Programming Dial back to theSYSTEM ON position. The unwantedwatering start time is now deleted.

1. If you want to delete an unwantedwatering start time from a program, turnthe Programming Dial to SET WATERINGSTART TIME(S).

2. Press Enter to select the start time number(1, 2, 3 or 4) you want to delete.

NOTE: Watering start times appear inchronological order. The earliestwatering start time is number 1, thenext later watering start time isnumber 2, and so on. If you delete awatering start time, all later starttimes are automatically advanced byone watering start time number. Thisre-numbering only occurs after youmove the Programming Dial from theSET WATERING START TIME(S) positionto another function.

3. The watering start time number to bedeleted appears in the display.

4. Press the (+) or (-) buttons until the blankposition (four dashes, “--.--”) appears in


Set Station Durationsteps for one program. If you are finishedprogramming, turn the Programming Dial tothe SYSTEM ON position to run all programsautomatically. If you want to enter settings foranother program, repeat the programminginstructions, beginning with “Select Program(A, B or C)” on page 19.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to SET STATIONDURATION.

2. The program letter (A, B or C), the number“1” (indicating the station number), and “0”appear in the display.

3. Press the (+) or (-) buttons to set theamount of time you want it to run forstation number 1. You can set a station torun from 0 minutes up to 240 minutes(four hours), in one-minute increments. Alldurations display in minutes (for example,a two hour duration will appear as 120minutes).

NOTE: If you do not want to include aparticular station in the selectedprogram, set that station’s durationto zero “0”.

4. Press Enter to display additional stations.Repeat steps 3 and 4 to set a duration foreach station.

You have now completed all programming


Operating the Sprinkler TimerAfter programming the timer, you willnormally set it to SYSTEM ON mode to operateall programs automatically. You can alsomanually run one or more programs, ormanually run a single station or severalstations.

In addition, you can adjust for changes in theweather or time of year with the SeasonalAdjust feature to increase or decrease therun time of all programs by a selectedpercentage (in 10% increments). You mayalso wish to run a test program to make sureall sprinklers in the system operate properly.

System Off1. To turn the timer off and suspend all

watering, turn the Programming Dial toSYSTEM OFF.

2. In the SYSTEM OFF position, the LCDdisplays OFF. The timer remembers thecurrent time and date and retains allprogramming, but no watering occurs.You may wish to turn the timer OFF duringa rainy period, or for any day(s) when youdo not want watering programs to run asscheduled.


System On1. To return the timer to automatic operation,

turn the Programming Dial to SYSTEM ON.

2. When the timer IS NOT watering, itdisplays:• Any program (A, B or C, or none)

scheduled to water today.• The current time.• %A %B %C, if there is a Seasonal

Adjust setting other than 100%.

3. When the timer IS watering, it displays:• Any programs (A, B or C) scheduled to

run today.• The station number currently running.• The duration time remaining for that

station.• %A %B %C, if there is a Seasonal

Adjust setting other than 100%.

4. If a problem or short is detected in any ofthe stations, the display toggles every 3seconds and shows an error message "Err#", # being the station where the problemwas detected. For example, if the master

valve has a problem, it shows "Err M". Forstation 3 - "Err 3". The station isautomatically ignored until the cause oferror is corrected. Refer to the Trouble-shooting section of this manual for moreinformation.


Seasonal Adjust (SA)The Seasonal Adjust feature is the easiestway to increase or decrease the durationtimes of all stations on a program. You canuse Seasonal Adjust to decrease wateringduring cool winter months, or to increasewatering during hot, dry periods.

You can set the Seasonal Adjust percentagefrom 10% to 200% in increments of 10%.Changing the percentage affects all stationson all programs (A, B and C).

Seasonal Adjust percentages are calculatedon the normal programmed duration time foreach station. For example, if a station isprogrammed to run for 10 minutes, and youset the (SA) to 80%, the station will only runfor 8 minutes (80% of 10 minutes). If you setthe (SA) to 120%, that same station will runfor 12 minutes (120% of 10 minutes).

NOTES: (SA) will not split a minute.One whole minute is the lowestduration time allowed.

All duration times for every

programmed station will beincreased or decreased when youuse the (SA) feature.

1. Turn the Programming Dial to SeasonalAdjust.

2. The current Seasonal Adjust settingnumber appears in the display.

3. Press (+) button to increase the SeasonalAdjust percentage, or press the (-) buttonto decrease the SA percentage.

4. When the Seasonal Adjust percentage isset to any figure other than 100%, allprograms (A, B and C) display a percent


sign (%) in front of the program letter. Thepercent sign appears on all programs (A,B and C) even if they are not selected.

5. After setting the desired SA percentage,turn the Programming Dial back toSYSTEM ON. All station run times will beincreased or decreased by the selectedSeasonal Adjust (SA) percentage.


Manually Run Stations and Programsin the display, along with its remaining runtime. You can press Enter to manuallyadvance to the next station.

When manual operation finishes, the timerreturns to SYSTEM ON mode and awaits thenext scheduled program start time.

You can run individual stations or an entireprogram if you think a particular area needsadditional watering.

Manually Run a Station(s)1. Turn the Programming Dial to RUN

STATIONS MANUALLY.

2. The number “1” followed by “0” appears inthe display. This means that stationnumber 1 is set for zero manual run time.

3. If you want to manually run a station otherthan number 1, press Enter until the desi-red station number appears in the display.

4. If you want to manually run the displayedstation, press the (+) or (-) buttons to setthe station’s manual run time (from 1minute to 240 minutes).

5. Press Enter to begin watering.

6. After setting the manual run time for allstations desired, turn the ProgrammingDial back to SYSTEM ON. The number ofthe first manually operated station appears

PROGRAM MANUALLY (RPM).

2. The current program “A, B or C” appearsin the display.

3. To choose another program, press theProg ABC button until the desired programletter appears in the display.

4. Press Enter to start the selected program.

NOTES: You can “stack” programs (A,B and C) to operate manually bypressing Enter after selecting eachprogram. Programs will run in orderin which they are entered.

5. Turn the Programming Dial back toSYSTEM ON. The station currently runningand the time remaining is shown in thedisplay.

NOTE: “Seasonal Adjust” settingsapply to manually operatedprograms.

After the last manual program runs, the timerreturns to SYSTEM ON mode and awaits thenext scheduled program start time.

NOTE: Manually operating a stationdoes not affect the station’s runtime(s) in the automatic programs (A,B or C).


Run a Test ProgramThe ISM’s built-in test program will run eachstation that has a non-zero watering time.When you run the test program, the timeroperates each station in numerical sequence,from lowest to highest. You can use thisfeature to check the operation of all sprinklersin the system.

1. To test all timer stations, turn theProgramming Dial to TEST STATIONS.

NOTE: If you want to test less thanthe maximum number of stations,follow the procedure in “ManuallyRun a Station(s)” on page 30.

2. The number “2” appears in the display,representing a two-minute test run perstation. Adjust the test time per stationusing the (+) or (-) buttons (from 1 minuteto 10 minutes).

3. Press Enter to start the all-stations test.

4. Then turn the Programming Dial back tothe SYSTEM ON position.

During the test, the number of eachoperating station appears in the display,along with the station’s remaining run time.Any station set for a zero run time in theautomatic programs (A, B or C) will beskipped in the all-stations test.

NOTE: At any time during the all-stations test, you can press Enter tomanually advance to the nextstation.

When the all-stations test is complete, thetimer returns to SYSTEM ON mode and awaitsthe next scheduled program start time.


Installing the Sprinkler TimerIf you must install it outdoors, use awater-resistant cabinet, such as theRain Bird TC-2 Timer Cabinet. TheTC-2 is a heavy-duty, weatherresistant plastic case that lets youconvert any indoor timer to outdooruse.

Choose a Proper LocationChoose a secure location where you caneasily reach the timer. We recommendmounting the timer at eye level in a utilityroom (garage, laundry room, etc.)

1. The mounting location must be within 5feet (1,5m) of an electrical wall outlet.

NOTE: To minimize electricalinterference, select a location at least15 feet (4,6 m) away from high-draw

motors such as air conditioners,refrigerators, or pool pumps.

2. When selecting a location, choose a flat,stable vertical surface on which to mountthe timer. Make sure to allow enoughclearance for electrical conduit andconnections at the bottom of the timercase.

Although this manual provides directions forconnecting the wiring to the timer, localelectrical codes may vary in their require-ments for proper and safe installation.

NOTES: This timer must be installed infull compliance with local electricalcodes.

The ISM sprinkler timer must beinstalled indoors only.


Mount the Sprinkler Timer1. Hold the template provided against the

wall in the desired mounting location. Usea pencil to mark the location of the threeholes for the mounting fasteners, asshown on the template.

2. Use a nail to tap a small pilot hole on eachpencil mark for the mounting fasteners.Using the mounting fasteners provided,drive the top two fasteners into the wall.

3. Use the keyhole-shaped slots on the backof the timer to hang the timer on the twomounting fasteners. Make sure the shaftsof the fasteners are well up into the narrowpart of the keyhole slot.

4. Remove the lower access cover and drivethe third mounting fastener through thehole in the timer’s lower access panel.


Connect Main Power WiresThe ISM sprinkler timer has an externaltransformer that reduces standard supplyvoltage to 24 VAC to operate the remotevalves connected to the timer.

CAUTION: To avoid electrical shock,DO NOT plug in the transformer untilyou have connected it to the timer.

To connect the transformer cable to theterminal strip in the timer cabinet:

1. Make sure the transformer is NOT pluggedin.

2. Plug the snap-on connector on thetransformer cable into the “24VAC”connection point on the timer terminalstrip.

3. Plug the transformer into any standard,three-prong grounded wall plug.


Connect Field Wires to Remote Control Valves3. If your system includes a master valve on

its main line supply, or a 24-volt pumpstart relay (for activating a pump duringirrigation), connect a wire from the deviceto the “MV” terminal on the timer’s terminalstrip. (The timer does not provide the mainpower for a pump.) Connect the other wirelead on the device to the valve commonwire.

4. That completes the mounting and wiringprocedures for your ISM sprinkler timer.Replace the lower access cover on thetimer, and you are ready to beginprogramming. Refer to “Programming theSprinkler Timer” on page 15.

The wires coming back to the timer from theelectric valves in the field can be routed intothe timer through the hole in the bottom ofthe cabinet.

Fig. A shows the various wire runs andconnections between the timer and the otherdevices. Each valve should have its own,separate control wire. Use only wire that iscode-approved for underground, low-voltagepurposes.

1. Connect one end of the control wire to anumbered station terminal on the timer’sterminal strip.

2. Connect the other end of the control wireto one of the wire leads on the valvesolenoid. The wire connectors at thevalves must be waterproof. Connect thevalve common wire to the “COM” terminalon the terminal strip. Route the commonwire out to the furthest valve, and connectthe valve common wire to the remainingwire lead on each valve.

Resetthe time and date as described on page 15. If theelectrical surge did no permanent damage, the timerwill accept programming commands and functionnormally. If the timer does not operate properly, contactRain Bird Technical Assistance at 1-800-RAINBIRD

Check and repair the valve.

Set the Programming Dial to SYSTEM ON.

Identify and repair the fault in the electrical circuit.

Turn the dial to SET WATERING START TIME(S) andcheck the start times entered for the program. If thestation’s start time is missing, enter it as described onpage 23.

Turn the dial to SET WATERING START TIME andcheck to see if any programs have an unwanted starttime. See the instructions beginning on page 23 forsetting and deleting start times.

Check to see if another program’s start time beganduring the previous program’s run cycle. Theoverlapped program would immediately follow theearlier one. Reprogram if necessary.

Turn the Programming Dial to SYSTEM OFF and wait10-20 seconds. If the irrigation does not stop, shut offthe water supply manually and repair the valve.

The “Err” in the display indicates a short circuitoverload on a particular station. The station’s numbershould also be displayed. For example, “ Err 2” meansthe problem is in the circuit for Station 2.Usually, the short circuit is in the solenoid on theelecric valve, but shorts can also occur in the wireconnectors at the valve. Occasionally, nicked or“skinned” field wires can cause a short. A large pump


start relay can also produce a momentary overloadthat may be detected by the controller.Locate and repair the cause of the short circuit. Pressenter with dial in SYSTEM ON position when “Err” isdisplayed.

En estemanual se le explicará cómo instalar,programar y utilizar el controlador parasistemas de riego (también llamado“cronómetro”). Por favor lea estasinstrucciones detenidamente y conserve elmanual en la parte posterior del controladorpara futuras referencias.

El controlador para aspersores Rain Bird ISMes un controlador compacto, fácil de usar,que le ofrece las siguientes funciones:

• Tres programas con días de riego

Estaciones del controlador para aspersoresEl controlador para aspersores Rain Bird ISMes un controlador electrónico que controla elencendido y apagado del sistema deaspersores y cuánto tiempo funcionarán losaspersores.

El controlador ISM puede controlar 4, 6 ó 9“estaciones” de riego. Una estación es unconjunto de aspersores u otros dispositivosde riego conectados a una válvula comúnde control remoto. Cuando la válvula recibe


una señal del controlador, se abre y enciendelos aspersores conectados a ella.En la siguiente figura se presenta undiagrama de disposición de estaciones. En elejemplo, la estación 1 está regando. Cuando

la estación 1 termine de regar, el controladorla apagará y encenderá la estación 2.Cuando la estación 2 termine de regar,comenzará la estación 3, y asisucesivamente.


¿Qué es un programa?La programación es el proceso de indicarle alcontrolador cuándo y durante cuánto tiempose quiere regar. El controlador abre y cierralas válvulas remotas de cada estación deacuerdo con el programa que ustedespecifique.

El controlador ISM tiene tres programasindependientes: A, B y C. Cada programapuede controlar de una a nueve estaciones yle permite personalizar los calendarios deriego de acuerdo con las necesidades dedistintos tipos de plantas, condiciones delsuelo, pendientes, áreas sombreadas osoleadas, etc.

Para que pueda programar correctamente elcontrolador para aspersores ISM esnecesario que conozca los siguientestérminos.

• Ciclo de riego (Watering day cycle) - Elperíodo (en días) de repetición delprograma que usted especifica. Porejemplo, un ciclo de cinco días es un

calendario de riego semanal que se repiteuna vez cada cinco días. Un ciclo de dosdías se repite cada segundo día.

• Días de riego ( Days to water) - Los díasespecíficos del ciclo de riego en los cualesse lleva a cabo el riego. En un ciclo de 7días usted podrá seleccionar varios díasde riego dentro del ciclo. Por ejemplo,podría regar los días 1 (lunes), día 3(miércoles) y día 5 (viernes). En los ciclosde 2, 3, 4, 5 ó 6 días, el día 1 siempreserá el único día de riego. Un ciclo de 2días riega el día 1, no riega el día 2 y luegovuelve a regar el día 1 al repetirse el ciclo.Un ciclo de tres días riega el día 1, deja deregar los días 2 y 3 y luego se repite.

• Hora de inicio de riego (Watering start time)- Es la hora a la que comenzará a regar laprimera estación de un programa. Lasdemás estaciones programadas leseguirán en secuencia. Cada programapuede tener hasta cuatro horas de inicio.Por ejemplo, un programa podría iniciar el


riego a las 6:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00p.m. y 6:00 p.m.

NOTA: El término “hora de inicio” serefiere a la hora en que comienza laejecución del programa, no a laduración en que cada estaciónfunciona.

• Tiempo de riego o Duración (Duration) - Esel número de minutos que funcionarácada estación.


Conceptos básicosdel controlador para aspersoresProgramación con alimentación por bateríaSi lo desea, puede programar el controladormientras éste es alimentado por la batería.Esta función puede ser útil si el controladorserá instalado en un lugar de difícil acceso.Asimismo, esta función le permite especificarla información de programación antes deinstalar el controlador.

Para programar el controlador paraaspersores ISM mientras es alimentado porla batería, primero tendrá que instalar labatería.

NOTA: Con el fin de ahorrar la energíade la batería, el controlador pasará ala modalidad de ahorro de energía sitranscurre un lapso de inactividad enla perilla de programación o en losbotones. Oprima cualquier botónpara reactivar el controlador.


Instalación de la bateríaLa batería de respaldo conserva lainformación de hora, fecha y programacióncuando hay interrupciones en el suministroeléctrico. La batería también le permiteprogramar el controlador mientras esalimentado por la batería, antes deconectarlo a una fuente de corriente alterna.

Para obtener los mejores resultados, utiliceuna batería alcalina de 9 V de larga duración.Una batería nueva por lo general proveeráenergía suficiente para un año. Reemplace labatería cada año para asegurar que semantenga un suministro de energíaininterrumpido.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que elcontrolador esté conectado a unafuente de corriente alterna alreemplazar la batería, pues de locontrario perderá toda la informaciónde programación, hora y fecha.

Para instalar la batería:1. Quite la tapa de acceso inferior del

controlador para abrir el compartimientode la batería.

2. Una el conector de dos alambres a lasterminales de la batería nueva. Si estáreemplazando una batería usada, desecheésta de manera apropiada.

3. Inserte la nueva batería firmemente en elcompartimiento.

4. Vuelva a colocar la tapa de acceso inferior.

NOTA: Si no hay batería instalada, lafunción de detección de cortocircuito puede no funcionarapropiadamente. Por favorasegúrese que la batería seainstalada antes de la operación.


Controles e indicadoresEn la figura de la derecha se muestran loscontroles de programación de la carátula delcontrolador para aspersores ISM. Estoscontroles son los siguientes:

1. Pantalla de cristal líquido (LCD) - Duranteel funcionamiento normal, en la pantalla sepresenta la hora y los programas que seejecutarán ese día. Durante laprogramación, en la pantalla aparecen losresultados de sus instrucciones. Duranteel riego, en la pantalla se presenta laestación que está funcionando, losminutos que faltan del tiempo de riego dela estación y si hay otro programaesperando para iniciar el riego.

2. Botones ascendente (+) y descendente (-) -Se utilizan para especificar horas y días ypara efectuar cambios de programación.

3. Botón Enter - Registra las instrucciones deprogramación e inicia la operaciónmanual.

4. Botón Prog ABC - Selecciona el programa

de riego A, B o C.

5. Perilla de programación - Apaga oenciende el controlador y selecciona otrasfunciones de programación.

4. En el recuadro de horas de inicio delprograma A, escriba la hora a la quequiere que comience a regar el programa.Puede asignar hasta cuatro horas de inicioa cada programa. Si quiere que elprograma riegue únicamente una vezcada día de riego, marque sólo una horade inicio. Especifique las otras horas deinicio sólo si quiere repetir el programa ensu totalidad más de una vez por día deriego.

Antes de comenzar a programar elcontrolador ISM, llene la tabla deprogramación incluida con el controlador.Después programe el controlador en el ordenindicado en la lista de verificación para laprogramación. La página 57 muestra unejemplo de esta tabla.

1. Seleccione el ciclo de día de riegodeseado y encierre en un círculo los díasde riego del ciclo. En el ejemplo delprograma A, el operador eligió un ciclo deriego de siete días y marcó los días L, M yV como días de riego. Esto significa que elprograma A regará todos los lunes,miércoles y viernes.

2. Para el programa B, el operadorseleccionó un ciclo de riego de tres días.Con esta opción, el programa B regará undía, dejará de regar dos días y comenzaráa regar nuevamente en el primer día de unnuevo ciclo de tres días.

3. También puede elegir uno de tres ciclos


5. Anote las horas de inicio del programa B(si se utilizará). En el ejemplo, el programaA comienza a regar a las 7:00 a.m. Elprograma B riega dos veces cada día deriego, a las 5:00 a.m. y a las 3:00 p.m.

NOTA: Si el tiempo de riego total deun programa se sobrepone a la horade inicio de otro programa, elcontrolador colocará los programasen una secuencia posponiendo laejecución del segundo programahasta que el primero termine deregar.

6. Junto a cada número de estación escribauna descripción breve del área cubiertapor la estación. Recuerde que una“estación” es un conjunto de aspersoresconectados a una misma válvula decontrol remoto.

En este ejemplo se muestran seisestaciones asignadas. Sin embargo, elcontrolador ISM puede controlar más omenos, dependiendo del modelo.

7. En la columna de tiempo de riego de cadaprograma, anote el número de minutos deoperación de cada estación.Observe que las estaciones 1 a 4 estánasignadas al programa A, mientras que lasestaciones 5 y 6 están asignadas alprograma B.

El controlador ISM le permite utilizar lamisma estación en distintos programas,para satisfacer necesidades de riegoespeciales. Sin embargo, en la mayoría delas aplicaciones la programación será mássencilla si no repite las estaciones.

NOTA: El valor de ajuste deporcentaje de consumo de agua(Seasonal Adjust %) se aplica a losprogramas (A, B y C). Vea página74.

5. Conecte el transformador a la toma de lapared.

En la pantalla aparecerá “AM 12:00”. Estoindica que los programas anteriores han sidoborrados. Ahora podrá girar la perilla deprogramación a la posición Set Current DATE/TIME (fecha y hora) para comenzar aespecificar el año, mes, día y hora.

Siga el procedimiento descrito acontinuación siempre que desee borrartodos los programas de la memoria delcontrolador e iniciar la programación “desdecero”.

1. Desconecte el transformador de la tomade la pared.

2. Desconecte el conector de la batería.

3. Espere 10 segundos.


Especifique el año1. Gire la perilla de programación a la

posición Set Current DATE/TIME.

2. Oprima los botones ascendente (+) odescendente (-) para especificar el año.

3. Oprima el botón Enter.


Especifique el mes y el día1. Después de especificar el año correcto,

deje la perilla de programación en laposición Set Current DATE/TIME.

Especifique las horas de inicio del programa4. Si quiere especificar otra hora de inicio,

oprima el botón Enter. En la pantallaaparecerán el número de la siguiente horade inicio (2, 3 ó 4) y los cuatro guiones.Repita los pasos 3 y 4 para especificarhasta cuatro horas de inicio para cadaprograma, si las requiere.

NOTA: Si seleccionó uno de los ca-lendarios de riego pre-determinados,verá las horas de inicio predetermi-nadas de ese calendario de riego.

La hora de inicio de un programa es la horacuando empezará a regar la primera estacióndel programa. Hasta 4 tiempos de iniciopueden programarse por programa. Lasestaciones subsecuentes comenzarán aregar en secuencia. Hay un retraso de 2segundos entre la activación de lasestaciones.

1. Gire la perilla de programación a laposición SET WATERIGN START TIME(S)(hora de inicio).

2. En la pantalla se presentarán la letra delprograma (A, B o C), el número “1” (queindica la primera hora de inicio) y cuatroguiones “--.--”.

Lostiempos de riego se presentan en minutos(por ejemplo, un tiempo de riego de doshoras aparecerá como 120 minutos).

NOTA: Si no quiere incluir unaestación como parte del programaseleccionado, ajuste el tiempo deriego de esa estación a cero (0).

4. Oprima el botón Enter para pasar a lasiguiente estación. Repita los pasos 3 y 4para asignar los tiempos de riego de lasdemás estaciones.


Operación del controlador para aspersoresAdjust™ %) para aumentar o reducir eltiempo de riego de todas las estaciones enun porcentaje específico (en incrementos del10%). Asimismo, podrá ejecutar unprograma de prueba para comprobar quetodos los aspersores del sistema funcionancomo es debido.

Después de programar el controlador, lo másusual es que lo ajuste a la modalidadautomática (SYSTEM ON) para que losprogramas se ejecuten automáticamente.También es posible ejecutar uno o másprogramas manualmente, o iniciar el riego deuna o varias estaciones en forma manual.

También puede ajustar la función deporcentaje de consumo de agua (Seasonal

Sistema Apagado (SYSTEM OFF)1. Para apagar el controlador y suspender

todo el riego, gire la perilla deprogramación a la posición SYSTEM OFF.

2. En la posición SYSTEM OFF la pantallamuestra la leyenda “off”. El controladorrecordará la hora y los programas, perono habrá riego. Puede apagar elcontrolador durante períodos de lluvia odurante los días en los que no quiere quelos programas se ejecuten en la formaespecificada.


• %A %B %C, si se especificó unporcentaje de consumo de agua distintodel 100%.

4. Si algún problema es detectado en algunade las estaciones, la pantalla parpadeacada 3 segundos y muestra un mensajede error “Err#”, siendo “#” la estacióndonde el problema ha sido detectado. Porejemplo, si la válvula maestra tiene algúnproblema, muestra “ErrM”, para laestación 3, “Err3”. La estación esautomáticamente ignorada hasta que lacausa del error es corregida.

Sistema de encendido(System On)1. Para regresar el controlador a operación

automática, gire la perilla a SYSTEM ON.

2. Cuando el controlador no está regandoaparecerá:

• Los programas (A, B, C o ninguno)programados para regar el día actual.

• La hora actual.

• %A, %B, %C, si se especificó unporcentaje de consumo de agua distintodel 100%.

3. Cuando el controlador está regando, en lapantalla aparece lo siguiente:

• El programa (A, B o C) en ejecución.

• El número de la estación que estáregando en ese momento.

• El tiempo de riego restante para laestación.


Ajuste del porcentaje de consumo de agua

estación regará únicamente durante 8minutos (el 80% de 10 minutos). Si ajusta elporcentaje de consumo de agua al 120%,esa misma estación regará durante 12minutos (el 120% de 10 minutos).

NOTAS: El porcentaje de consumo deagua sólo maneja minutos enteros.El tiempo de riego mínimo es de unminuto.

Los tiempos de riego de todas lasestaciones programadasaumentarán o disminuirán al utilizarla función de ajuste de porcentaje deconsumo de agua.

1. Gire la perilla de programación a laposición SEASONAL ADJUST % (porcentajede consumo de agua).

2. El porcentaje de consumo actual apareceen la pantalla.

3. Oprima el botón (+) para aumentar elporcentaje de consumo de agua o el

(Seasonal Adjust %)La función de ajuste de porcentaje deconsumo de agua es la forma más sencillade aumentar o reducir el tiempo de riego detodas las estaciones de un programa. Lafunción de ajuste de porcentaje de consumode agua puede utilizarse para reducir elriego en los meses fríos o aumentarlo en losperíodos secos o de calor intenso.

El porcentaje de consumo de agua puedeajustarse del 10% al 200% (el doble deltiempo de riego de las estaciones), enincrementos del 10%. Los ajustes al por-centaje de consumo de agua afectan a lasestaciones de todos los programas (A, B oC).

Los porcentajes de consumo de agua secalculan a partir del tiempo de riego normalprogramado para la estación. Por ejemplo,si una estación tiene un tiempo de riegoprogramado de 10 minutos y el porcentajede consumo de agua se ajusta al 80%, la


botón (-) para reducir el porcentaje deconsumo de agua.

4. Si ajusta el porcentaje de consumo deagua a una cifra distinta del 100%, sepresentará un signo de porcentaje (%)frente a la letra de los programas (A, B, C).El signo de porcentaje aparecerá en

ambos programas (A, B o C) incluso si noestán seleccionados.

5. Después de ajustar el porcentaje deconsumo de agua, devuelva la perilla deprogramación a la posición SYSTEM ON.Los tiempos de riego de todas lasestaciones aumentarán o disminuirán en elporcentaje especificado.


Operación manual de estaciones y programas6. Después de especificar el tiempo de riego

manual de todas las estaciones, gire laperilla de programación de nuevo a laposición SYSTEM ON. En la pantallaaparecerá el número de la primeraestación para riego manual y el tiempo deriego restante. Puede oprimir el botónEnter para avanzar a la siguiente estación.

Al terminar la operación manual, elcontrolador regresará a la modalidadautomática (SYSTEM ON) y esperará al iniciodel siguiente programa.

Es posible operar una estación o unprograma en forma manual si considera queuna zona necesita riego adicional.

Operación manual de estaciones1. Gire la perilla de programación a la

posición RUN STATIONS MANUALLY(estación manual).

2. En la pantalla aparecerá el número “1”seguido por “0”. Esto indica que laestación 1 tiene un tiempo de riegomanual de cero.

3. Para seleccionar una estación que no seala número 1, oprima el botón Enter hastaque el número de la estación aparezca enla pantalla.

4. Si quiere iniciar el riego de la estación queaparece en la pantalla, oprima los botones(+) o (-) para especificar el tiempo deriego manual de la estación (de 1 a 240minutos).

5. Oprima el botón Enter para iniciar el riego.


Ejecución manual de unprograma1. Gire la perilla de programación a la

posición RUN PROGRAM MANUALLY (iniciomanual de programa).

2. En la pantalla aparecerá el programa “A, Bo C”.

3. Si desea elegir otro programa, oprima elbotón Prog ABC hasta que el programadeseado aparezca en la pantalla.

4. Oprima el botón Enter para iniciar laejecución del programa seleccionado.

NOTA: Puede colocar los programas(A, B o C) en secuencia para laoperación manual, oprimiendo el

botón Enter después de seleccionarcada programa. Los programasserán ejecutados en el orden en quefueron programados.

5. Gire la perilla de programación de nuevo ala posición SYSTEM ON. En la pantalla sepresentará la estación en funcionamientoy el tiempo por completar.

NOTA: La función de ajuste deporcentaje de consumo de agua(Seasonal Adjust %) se aplica a losprogramas operados en formamanual.Al terminar la ejecución del últimoprograma manual, el controladorregresará a la modalidad SYSTEM ONy esperará a la hora de inicio delsiguiente programa.

NOTAS: La operación manual de unaestación no afecta los tiempos deriego de la estación en losprogramas automáticos (A, B y C).


Ejecute un programa de pruebaNOTA: Si sólo quiere probar una ovarias estaciones, siendo estasmenores al máximo de estaciones,siga el procedimiento descrito en“Operación manual de estaciones”,en la página 74.

2. En la pantalla aparecerá el número “2”,que indica una prueba de dos minutos porestación. Ajuste el tiempo de prueba porestación utilizando los botones (+) o (-)(desde un minuto hasta 10 minutos).

3. Oprima el botón Enter para iniciar laprueba de todas las estaciones.

4. Después gire la perilla de programación

El programa de prueba incorporado en elcontrolador ISM iniciará el riego en todas lasestaciones con tiempo de riego distinto decero. Al ejecutar el programa de prueba, elcontrolador opera las estaciones en ordennumérico, de menor a mayor. Puede utilizaresta función para comprobar elfuncionamiento de todos los aspersores delsistema.

1. Para probar todas las estaciones delcontrolador, gire la perilla de programacióna la posición TEST STATIONS (prueba deestaciones).

Instalación del controladorpara aspersoresAunque en este manual se presentan lasinstrucciones de conexión del cableado alcontrolador, los códigos eléctricos de sulocalidad pueden especificar otros requisitospara una instalación correcta y segura.

NOTAS: Este controlador deberáinstalarse de conformidad con todoslos códigos eléctricos de sulocalidad.

El controlador ISM únicamente deberáinstalarse bajo techo.Si debe instalar en el exterior, use ungabinete contra el agua tal como elTC2 de Rain Bird. El TC2 es deplástico durable, resistente ainclemencias del tiempo que permiteconvertir cualquier controlador parauso interior a uso exterior.

Seleccionar un lugar apropiadoSeleccione un lugar donde tenga acceso fácilal controlador. Le recomendamos montar elcontrolador a la altura de los ojos en uncuarto de servicio (por ejemplo, un garaje, uncuarto de lavado, etc.).

1. El punto de montaje deberá estar amenos de 1,5 m (5 pies) de una tomaeléctrica de pared.

NOTA: Para minimizar la interferenciaeléctrica, seleccione un lugar queesté a una distancia mínima de 4,6m (15 pies) del equipo de altoconsumo de energía, como seríanacondicionadores de aire, refrigera-dores o bombas para piscina.

2. Al seleccionar el lugar de montaje delcontrolador, busque una superficie plana,


estable y vertical. Cerciórese de quequede espacio libre suficiente para el

4. Quite la tapa de acceso inferior eintroduzca el tercer sujetador de montajea través del agujero del panel de accesoinferior del controlador.

Conexión de los cables de energía principalEl controlador para aspersores ISM tiene untransformador externo que reduce laalimentación eléctrica normal a 24 VCA paraoperar las válvulas remotas conectadas alcontrolador.

CUIDADO: Para evitar descargaseléctricas, NO conecte eltransformador a la toma de la paredsin antes haberlo conectado alcontrolador.

Para conectar el cable del transformador a latira de terminales del gabinete delcontrolador, siga los siguientes pasos:

1. Asegúrese de que el transformador NOesté conectado a la toma de la pared.

2. Coloque el conector a presión del cabledel transformador en el punto de conexión“24VAC” de la tira de terminales delcontrolador.

3. Conecte el transformador a una toma depared estándar de tres vías, puesta atierra.


Conexión de los cables de campo a las válvulas decontrol remoto

común hasta la válvula más lejana yconéctelo al cable de conexión libre delsolenoide de cada válvula.

3. Si su sistema incluye una válvula maestraen la línea de suministro principal o unrelevador de arranque de bomba de 24 V(para activar una bomba durante el riego),conecte un cable del dispositivo alterminal “MV” de la tira de terminales delcontrolador. (El controlador no suministrala energía principal de la bomba.) Conecteel otro cable de conexión del dispositivo alcable común de las válvulas.

4. Con esto concluyen los procedimientosde montaje y cableado del controladorpara aspersores ISM. Vuelva a colocar latapa de acceso inferior del controlador yestará listo para iniciar la programación.Consulte la sección “Programación delcontrolador para aspersores” en la página58.

Los cables que van de las válvulas eléctricasen el campo al controlador puedenintroducirse en el controlador a través delagujero en la parte inferior del gabinete.

En la figura A de la siguiente página semuestran las trayectorias de cables y lasconexiones entre el controlador y otrosdispositivos. Cada válvula deberá tener supropio cable de energía. Utilice únicamentecable clasificado para aplicacionessubterráneas de bajo voltaje.

1. Conecte un extremo del cable de energíaa una terminal de estación numerado de latira de terminales del controlador.

2. Conecte el otro extremo del cable deenergía a uno de los cables de conexióndel solenoide de la válvula. Losconectores de cable de las válvulasdeberán ser a prueba de agua. Conecte elcable común de las válvulas al terminal“COM” de la tira de terminal. Dirija el cable

Apague el controlador y desconecte la batería de 9 V.Espere dos o tres minutos. Conecte la batería yrestablezca la alimentación eléctrica. Restablezca lahora y la fecha tal como se describe en la página 59.Si la sobrecarga eléctrica no provocó dañospermanentes en el controlador, éste aceptará lasinstrucciones de programación y funcionaránormalmente. Si el controlador no funciona de maneracorrecta, llame al Departamento de AsistenciaTécnica de Rain Bird, al 1-800-RAINBIRD.

Gire la perilla de programación a la posición SETWATERING START TIME(S) (hora de inicio) ycompruebe las horas de inicio especificadas para elprograma. Si la hora de inicio falta o es incorrecta,especifíquela tal como se describe en la página 67.

Si el día actual es un día de riego del programa, laletra del programa aparecerá en la pantalla. Gire laperilla a la posición SELECT DAYS TO WATER (día deriego) y revise los días de riego del programa. De sernecesario, especifique los días de riego en la formadescrita en la página 65.

Compruebe que la línea de suministro de agua tengapresión.

Gire la perilla de programación a la posición SETSTATION DURATION (tiempo de riego de estación) pa-ra revisar los tiempos de riego asignados a la estación.Consulte la página 69 para añadir un tiempo de riego.

Identifique y repare el problema en el circuito eléctrico.

Gire la perilla a la posición SET WATERING STARTTIME (hora de inicio) y revise las horas de inicioespecificadas para el programa. Si falta la hora deinicio de la estación, especifíquela tal como sedescribe en la página 67.

Borre todos los tiempos de inicio de riego delprograma no deseado. Consulte la página 68.

Revise si la hora de inicio de otro programa empezódurante el ciclo de operación del programa anterior. Elprograma empalmado iniciaría inmediatamentedespués de que concluyera el programa anterior.Cambie la programación si es necesario.

Gire la perilla de programación a la posición SYSTEMOFF (sistema apagado) y espere unos 10 a 20segundos. Si el riego no se detiene, cierre elsuministro de agua manualmente y repare la válvula.

El mensaje "Err" en la pantalla indica que hay uncortocircuito o una sobrecarga eléctrica en la estaciónindicada. Por ejemplo, "Err2" significa que el problemaestá en el circuito de la estación 2. El corto circuito porlo general se localiza en el solenoide de la válvulaeléctrica, pero también puede ocurrir en los conectoresde los cables de la válvula. En algunos casos, los ca-bles de campo desforrados provocan el corto circuito.Otra posibilidad es que un relevador de arranque debomba de alto nivel de consumo de corriente provoqueuna sobrecarga momentánea que sea detectada por elcontrolador. Localice y corrija la cause del cortocircuito. Presione Enter con la perilla en la posición"SYSTEM ON" cuando "Err" aparezca.


Este controlador para aspersores genera energía deradiofrecuencia y puede causar interferencia en lasrecepciones de radio y televisión. El controlador hasido sometido a pruebas de tipo y cumple con loslímites para dispositivos de computación Clase Bestablecidos por las especificaciones de la Subparte Jde la Parte 15 de las reglas de la FCC, las cuales hansido diseñadas para proporcionar protecciónrazonable contra este tipo de interferencia eninstalaciones residenciales. This sprinkler timer generates radio frequency energyand may cause interference to radio and televisionreception. It has been type tested and found to complywith the limits for a Class B computing device inaccordance with the specifications in Subpart J of Part15 of FCC Rules, which are designed to providereasonable protection against such interference in aresidential installation. However, there is no guaranteethat interference will not occur in a particularinstallation.

If this equipment does cause interference to radio ortelevision reception, which can be determined byturning the equipment off and on, the user isencouraged to try to correct the interference by one ormore of the following measures:

1. Reorient the receiving antenna.

2. Move the timer away from the receiver.

3. Plug the timer into a different outlet so that thetimer and receiver are on different branch circuits.
