Irrigation Minister

Brijmohan Agarwal ji played a Vital Role in Chhattisgarh Irrigation

Department.

A working board of trustees will be constituted for the agriculture department and board will

start working from the current budgetary year, a press discharge expressed.

Agriculture and livestock development minister Shri. Brijmohan Agrawal will be the chairperson

of the committee and vice-chairman will be the agriculture production commissioner.

Finance ministry has approved a total of 10 posts for the board.

Chief of veterinary administrations, registrar Chhattisgarh state go-seva ayog, and registrar

of Chhattisgarh state veterinary parishad will be the member.

The board will give strategies to authorities to avoid pitilessness on creatures and to

create a deeper study, officials of veterinary department.

Chhattisgarh government has sanctioned 14 new irrigation projects in the state to be

finished with an expected amount of Rs 654 crore.

One of the important projects sanctioned by the state government is the irrigation project

besides 10 annicuts and 3 flood control projects.

The foremost irrigation project would come up on Kelo River which is close to Raigarh. The

state government had allowed Rs 598.91 cr. for the project that would aid in irrigating 22,810

hectares of area in the locale.

Area of irrigated land in Chhattisgarh has considerably increased as an end result of constant efforts done by the

state government to develop the state’s irrigation facilities. At the time of formation, state’s irrigated area was not

more than 20 %.

But currently, the irrigated area in Chhattisgarh has increased to 34.20 %.

Irrigation facility was accessible for only 13.28 hectares of land in 2001, whereas

at present, it is accessible for 19 lakh hectares.

Brijmohan Agrawal ji, Water Resource Department Minister has informed that development of irrigation

capacity in Chhattisgarh has always been on the main concern in the list

of State Government.

State Government has implemented 8 big, 35 medium and 2390 small irrigation schemes in

state. In addition, 383 anicuts have also been constructed.

One thing that makes him distinct from others is his empathy for the poor and

underprivileged. 

He has done many social activities like providing fund for the development of health and education of poor children, helping in marriage of girls from poor

families. He also helped the disabled people by providing them tricycles.
