Madrid-based design studio to launch digitally manufactured lighting range in Paris this September Madrid design studio IRREALES makes its global debut this September at Maison & Objet 2019, in the TODAY SIGNATURE section of the show, Hall 6 stand K147. IRREALES’ debut project is a curated collection of five lamps inspired by mudras – symbolic Hindu, Jain and Buddhist hand gestures. Using a pop mimetic aesthetic the lamps, designed by Spanish artist David Rio Rios, include Wi-Fi connectivity, remote programming, dimmer and automation. Digital interconnection between lamps is also possible for contract projects and commercial applications. “The lamps combine art, glamour, humour and connectivity, the result is an irreverent and sexy design. We mix the latest 3D and additive manufacturing techniques with artisan processes for our production, specially the hand finishes.” says Rio Rios. “Our ambition is to design and produce objects that are emotive, human and subjective,” says cofounder and art director Javier Serrano. “We propose an alternative collaborative model, one that is both dynamic and ethical, that tailors design products to the project market with unique pieces & limited series.”

Collaboration with Swarovski

IRREALES has teamed up with jewelry artisan Jessica Palazzo to create a one-off piece using black Swarovski crystals. The unique piece will be displayed at the salon in Paris as part of an installation including hand-printed wallpapers by Justyna Medon, from UK-based print studio Addicted to Patterns. irreales Hall 6 Stand K147 Maison & Objet September 6-10, 2019 Paris
