Dear Hereford Friends,It feels like yesterday that our Inaugural sale took place, and the excitement of that day is still fresh in my mind. We are grateful for your participation and

support of last year’s sale and sincerely hope you will attend this year’s production sale.

We had very busy fall and spring seasons as we added more land and some extraordinary donor cows to our program. These donors will complement our

existing pen of donors and will define our program for the years to come. To take advantage of all the new genetics becoming available, we have almost

doubled our ET program. However, in selecting our breeding pairs, we remained true to our strategy to focus on producing calving-ease animals with maternal

traits and great udders that are structurally correct plus have sound feet and superior carcass traits.

We are very excited to see the first calf crop sired by Miles McKee. What a great group of calves! They are exceeding our expectations. We will show one of

his sons in Denver, and several of his spring-born sons and daughters will sell October 10th.

This year we changed the format of our sale. We had so many inquiries from the buyers of the Inaugural sale about bulls that we decided this year to add a

group of great 18-month-old and yearling herd bull prospects. After long thought, we also decided to sell Catapult 109. He is one of our main herd sires that

has performed admirably for our program. He is one of the most popular and successful bulls in the Hereford breed for the past couple of years. That was a

hard decision, but his sons are ready to succeed him in our herd.

On the female side, we are offering our best open and bred heifers — a tough decision but necessary to fulfill our desire to offer nothing but the best of our

genetics. We hope to retain some of the genetics by retaining flushes. Some of our best adult cows will also be offered as pairs and bred fall-calving cows.

My gratitude and thanks go to our “old staff,” David Caraway and Francisco Miranda, and our new additions: Zack Clodfelter, our summer intern who will join

us full time in January after he graduates from Texas A&M; and Betsy Bradley, who in addition to her work with the ET program started fitting for us. Last

but not least, Robbie Schacher and Dustin Layton have both kept a close eye on the operation throughout the year, keeping us focused on the big picture.
