Swedish  scienAsts  had  developed  a  drug  that  radically  changed  the  treatment  of  pepAc  ulcer  and  reflux  

disease  and  Losec  is  today  one  of  the  most  important  innovaAons  in  the  pharma  industry”

1966  –  The  pep>culcer  project  starts  

1973  –  The  substance  H124/26  is  discovered  and  forms  the  basis  for  all  composi>ons  in  the  project.  The  compound  is  further  developed  under  the  codename  ”>moprazol”  

1978  –  A  coopera>on  with  one  of  the  inventors  of  the  proton  pump  inhibitor  is  ini>ated  

1979  –  The  project  group  comes  up  with  the  compound  Omeprazol.  Losec  

1981  –  A  clinical  trials  program  is  ini>ated.  The    result  is  presented  on  a  congress  in  1982  

1986  –  The  first  patent  applica>ons  are  registered  

1988  –  Losec  is  put  on  the  market  in  8  countries  within  Europe  

1990
