1 001-icbth Adoption of mobile devices related to mobile service: Tablet PC and mobile Internet

Sungbum Kim Faculty, Ph.D. (Innovation and Technology Management), Department of IT convergence, Kumoh National

Institute of Technology, Gumi, Gyeongbuk, Korea

The differentiation of products and services determines company’s survival in the mobile communication industry. Mobile devices and mobile services now have a close relationship

in the new product development process. We attempted to draw an integrated strategy

through research related to product and service. In this study, we selected tablet PC as a

mobile device and mobile Internet as a mobile service. We explored relevant variables when

to plan tablet devices related to use of mobile service and found other variables as a

mediator. The mediator is considered as a proxy variable that indicates the direction of the

company’s product strategy. We employed intention to use as a dependent variable from

IDT, TAM and concentrates on two specific aspects as a dependent variable for information

and entertainment. We considered relative advantage related to contents/display and

compatibility as independent variables. Image and company’s reputation was considered as a

mediator to relative advantage and compatibility on intention to use tablet devices. We

constructed a structural model, verified the model fit, and tested the hypothesis. Such structure was proven to be a statistically significant fit. From this, it can be concluded that in

the managerial perspective, when planning and developing tablet devices, the accessibility

and usability of the tablet contents and the innovative image of the function and

specification of the tablet’s display should be considered. The relative advantage of tablet

device contents largely contributes to the company’s reputation. Company’s reputation is a

more appropriate variable for information devices than entertainment ones. Finally, the

intention to use a tablet for information on the Internet had a statistically significant effect

on the intention to use tablet for entertainment. This can be seen as a utilitarian usage

influencing a hedonic variable. Studies on product innovation must have a close relationship

with service innovation. Product innovation research must include related service variables

and service innovation research must include variables related to the product.

2 002-icbth Examining On Customer Retention Of Visits On Service Qualities And Word Of Mouth Intention In Upscales Malay Restaurant Through Utilitarian And Hedonic Value Judgements

Abstract-Service qualities in food industries, a technological interface where the customer

takes on a partial employee role during a service experience, has become a topic of growing

interest to many food services businesses. The research on service quality in the Upscale

Malay Restaurant is rather sparse, with the majority of studies, performing qualitative

analysis on what customers like and dislike about the restaurant. This study is to review

empirically how both the utilitarian and hedonic aspects of a service quality in the Upscale

Malay Restaurant. The experiences have also influenced a consumer’s future behavioral

intention to visit. In an addition, predictors of utilitarian and hedonic value judgment are

proposed and tested. This study attempted to investigate on the consumers’ intention of the

visit by effect of word of mouth intention.

Though a consumer’s perceived utilitarian value had a stronger effect, the hedonic judgment

that takes place in a service experience was found to have a significant impact on consumer

attitudes. This dissertation was set to examine the consumers behavioral toward Upscale

Malay Restaurant. It also hypothesized and predict consumer utilitarian and hedonic

attitudes toward service quality and customer retention of visits. If consumers know about

service quality that the restaurant was given, the consumer will use both types of these value

judgments in forming an attitude about the service which ultimately influences their future

behavioral intentions to visit the restaurant.

Keys word: Upscale Malay Restaurant, Customer Retention Of Visit, Service Qualities, Word of Mouth, Utilitarian and Hedonic attitude

3 003-icbth Identifying Service Quality As Antecedents To Customer Loyalty, Customer Satisfaction

And Customer Commitment In Islamic Banking Industry

University Technology Mara (Uitm) Malaysia

This study attempted to investigate on the service quality, providing by Islamic banking

industry and how it is affected by the customer loyalty, customer satisfaction, and customer

commitment. As we altogether know, one of the primary elements that will tempt the customers committed to the bank depends on the character of the help provided by the

manufacture itself.Quality consists of preparing service or stuff to use that it itself needs

quality planning, adaption, being accessible and proper place for offering services

(Louothetis, 1992). The issue highlighted in this conceptual paper regarding the customer

loyalty, customer satisfaction and commitment to service quality that provided by the

industry. The work of Islamic Banking derives from Islamic Principal and Syariah that is

differences with the conventional bank. Therefore, it's important for banks to determine

customer's expectation towards service quality in order to commit the relationship in the

Islamic banking industry and develop services that exceed their expectations. On the other

hands, this study examines a relationship of service quality to customer satisfaction,

customer loyalty and also customer's commitment towards the Islamic banking industry. Keywords: Service quality, Customer satisfaction, Customer loyalty and Customer

commitment

Abstract-The level of customers’ satisfaction is an effective pointer for a service quality

measurement as it is based on the respondents’ judgment toward the services rendered to and

experienced by them. The main purposes of this study were to identify the relationship

between service quality and customer’s satisfaction and to determine which dimension of

SERVQUAL has the highest impact on customers’ satisfaction, of which the focus was the out-patients visiting the Sri Aman Polyclinic, Sarawak. Descriptive statistics and

correlational approach were carried out by using SERVQUAL and Patient Satisfaction

questionnaire. Reliability and validity of the SERVQUAL and Patient Satisfaction

instrument were established. The respondents in this study consisted of 100 out-patients

who visited the Sri Aman Polyclinic, Sarawak, Malaysia. The findings indicated that

Empathy had a significant relationship with patients’ satisfaction while Assurance was

shown to have the highest impact on the patient’s satisfaction. In a nutshell, it was pointed

out that the service quality at the Sri Aman Polyclinic was significantly related to the

patients’ satisfaction. Thus, this study should be extended to the other rural areas in

Malaysia, especially in the healthcare industry

Abstract-Background: Strategies to attract higher-yielding tourists will be complemented by

measures to ensure that local communities benefit from increasing tourist spending.

Therefore, it is important to understand factors that drive local entrepreneurs to become

successful in their business. Self-efficacy is a concept used in the literature to measure one’s

belief in his ability to successfully venture into a business. Objective: This paper examines

the relationship between entrepreneur demographic factors, environmental forces and

entrepreneurial self-efficacy of small business operators at the border towns of Malaysia and

Thailand. The research is a cross-sectional study and a survey method is used. Results: Our

result reveals that nationality has a significant relationship with entrepreneurial self-efficacy.

With regard to the environmental forces, there is also a positive relationship between

intensity of competition and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Conclusion: Our result on environmental forces is not consistent with those studies conducted in western countries. It

seems that the small business operators at border town of Malaysia and Thailand have the

same belief which is different from those in western countries.

10 001-icc Computational Investigation of the Monomer Insulin-β-CD Complex for the New

Insulin Formulation

Erma Fatiha Muhammad and ,Rohana Adnan

School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, 11800 USM, Penang, Malaysia.

Abstract-The complexation of insulin with beta cyclodextrin (β-CD) would be to improve

absorptive and stability of the formulation insulin. This paper reports our investigation on

the interaction between insulin with several β-CDs at the molecular level using the

combined docking and molecular dynamics simulation methods. The present study was

aimed at finding the best possible ratio of β-CD to insulin, its most stable conformation as

well as identifying the type of forces responsible for the stabilization of the complex. A

series of 90 ns molecular dynamics simulations were conducted using NPT ensemble to further verify the results obtained by multiple molecular docking approach. Our results show

that the most stable conformation obtained was the one insulin to three β-CD ratios, which is

stabilized mostly by hydrophobic interactions as well as hydrogen bonds formations. MD

analysis of the insulin-β- CD complex system reported a good interaction between insulin

and β-CD with the root mean square deviation values of the insulin in complex system

stabilized at 80 ns was 0.65 ± 0.05 nm. RMSF profiles of the complex system also shows the

flexibility of Asn21, Phe22, Val23 and Asn24 residues which are involved in the hydrogen

bonding and hydrophobic interactions in docking calculations. The theoretical results

indicated the presence of significant interactions between insulin and β-CD which could

help in the new insulin formulation.

Abstract-An extension study on the role of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in deproteinised

natural rubber latex (DPNRL) was performed. It was observed that SDS effectively

facilitated the removal of proteins during the deproteinisation process of which about 20 –

80% of proteins was removed. Almost a complete reduction (97%) in extractable proteins (EP) was seen in cast films prepared from these SDS-DPNR mixtures. The presence of SDS

had resulted in smaller particle size diameter however there was no distinct difference in

their effective particle size diameter as the SDS concentration increases. Slight

agglomeration was seen at high SDS concentration. The zeta potential was enhanced as the

SDS concentration increased indicating higher colloidal stability. Depending on the SDS

concentration the presence of SDS in DPNR latex also rendered stabilization effect as

observed during the mechanical stability test. SDS resulted in low flow behaviour where the

latex became viscous with increasing SDS concentration. Deproteinisation caused marked

reduction in crosslinking density consequently leading to lower mechanical strength.

ABSTRACT: Background: Carotenoids are bioactive antioxidant pigments with pharmaceutical potential. Carotenoids such as α-carotene and β-carotene react as provitamin

A in human body, while lutein and zeaxanthin are two major components of the macular

pigment of the retina. Due to its high carotenoids and pro-vitamin A content, sweet potato

(Ipomoea batatas) is believed to have many nutritional and medicinal benefits. The

carotenoid content in sweet potato or as locally known Keledek in Malaysia were

determined using spectrophotometry and high performance liquid chromatography HPLC

analysis. Objective: This study aimed to assess the carotenoids content stability in five

different localities in Malaysia (Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Selangor and Perak) of

orange sweet potato tuber. All analyses were carried out in triplicate. Results: Results of this

study revealed that the orange sweet potato (OSP) from Kelantan showed the highest total

carotenoids content. For individual carotenoids, β-carotene ranged from 1123.85±0.04 μg/g

to 399.4±3.62 μg/g DW. Zeaxanthin was detected only in Kelantan OSP 13.01±0.00 μg/g DW. Carotenoids profiles for orange fresh tubers from five Malaysian localities revealed

marked differences in individual carotenoids composition. Conclusion: Generally, location

or geographic site of crop can be considered as an important factor that affects carotenoids

content in sweet potato flesh tuber.

Abstract-Malaysia has an abundance of oil palm biomass residues which are underutilized.

In specific, empty fruit bunches (EFB) are the representative one. EFB has some drawbacks, such as biodegradability and low calorific value, as a solid fuel. A medium temperature

treatment called torrefaction can improve these disadvantages. If the flue gas in palm oil

mills can be utilized as the gas and thermal energy sources of torrefaction, the financial

feasibility would be well improved. This study investigated the torrefaction of empty fruit

bunches under inert and non-inert atmosphere (oxygen and carbon dioxide). The torrefaction

process was conducted at 300˚C for 30 min. The effect of the presence of oxygen, dioxide

and mixture of oxygen and carbon dioxide was studied and compared with torrefaction

under inert atmosphere. The solid yield of torrefied EFB with the presence of carbon dioxide

or oxygen obviously decreased in comparison with inert. Torrefaction under 21% carbon

dioxide resulted in better characteristics of solid products in terms of carbon content and

calorific value, thus enhancing EFB as a solid fuel. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the morphology of the untorrefied and torrefied EFB.

Biodiesel, a biomass-derived fuel, is becoming increasingly important due to the increase in

the price of petroleum and the environmental concerns about the pollution that release to the

environment by vehicles and factories. Recently, millichannel reactor has become one of the

methods to produce biodiesel because it can overcome several issues in the traditional

approached of biodiesel production. In this paper, transesterification of palm oil using

millichannel reactor was conducted to study the effect of methanol to oil molar ratio (6:1 to

23:1), reaction temperature (40-65 °C), on the FAME yield for two different tube internal

diameters; 1.6 and 1.0 mm on the FAME yield. Results showed that the highest FAME yield

was at 21:1 methanol to oil molar ratio and the temperature was 60 °C with internal diameter

1.0 mm.

Abstract- The main objective of this study is to analyze economical possibility of 3

MW electricity generation power plants fuelled by biogas produced from 3 types such as

the wastewater, decanter cake and elephant grass from palm oil industry by discount rate

on investment in case of non subsidy and 20% subsidy. The analysis includes capital

investment, operation costs, profitability and revenues of the very small power plant, where,

this scenario analysis is carried out based on the data from the survey sample palm oil mill

to identify possibility project that optimize electricity production. This economic

performance biogas plant based on NPV, IRR and PBP concepts. The findings of the

analysis indicate that HCD system of the wastewater is financially feasible. The results obtained indicate a positive NPV and acceptable IRR and a PBP of less than 5 years and it’s

generally no cost. The CSTR co-digestion of decanter cake can yield an IRR of

approximately 11.3% but PBP more than 14 years. Elephant grass biogas system is

impossible. The analysis suggests that industrial that further support mechanisms from the

government in terms of investment subsidies, soft loan, crop pricing scheme and

special subsidies of feed in tariff (FIT) of adder are financially crucial to project survival.

Abstract- Background: In this work the dynamics transmission of denque fever was proposed. The standard method is used to analyze the behaviors of the proposed model. After that the model is modified by adding optimal control functions that includes two time – dependent control functions with one minimizing the contract between the susceptible human and the infected vector and the other, minimizing the population of the infected human. Results: The results shown that there were two equilibrium points; disease free and endemic equilibrium point. The qualitative results are depended on a basic reproductive number

0(R ) . We obtained the basic reproductive

number by using the next generation method and finding the spectral radius. Routh-Hurwitz criteria is used for determining the stabilities of the model. If 0R 1 , then the

disease free equilibrium point is local asymptotically stable: that is the disease will died out, but if

0R 1 , then the endemic equilibrium is local asymptotically stable.

Conclusion: Simulation results indicate that the numbers of susceptible individuals

(S) be decreased after control strategies and also the number of infectious individuals

(I) and infectious vector (I )v are decreased after control.

Abstract- Nowadays, energy storage improves the reliability and efficiency of electric

utility system. The most common device used for storing electrical energy is battery.

Obtaining an accurate data of battery parameter is important because it will be avoid

unexpected system interruption and prevent permanent damage to the internal structure of

the batteries. The objective of this study is to apply time-frequency distribution (TFD) which

is spectrogram technique in analysis of voltage charging and discharging signal for lithium-

ion battery. Spectrogram represents the battery signal in time frequency representation

(TFR) which is appropriate to analyze the signal before displaying the instantaneous RMS

voltage (Vrms), direct current voltage (VDC) and alternating current voltage (VAC) parameter

value. This paper focuses on lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery with nominal voltage of 6 and 12V

and various storage capacities from 5 to 50Ah. The battery model is implemented in

MATLAB/SIMULINK. From the results, the Li-ion battery parameter could be identified

using spectrogram.

Abstract- In this study, we proposed and analyzed a mathematical model to study the

dynamics of giving up smoking and the effect of education campaign as a control strategy.

The model is analyzed using stability theory of non-linear differential equations and is

supported the results with numerical simulations. The results showed that there were two

equilibrium points; smoking-free equilibrium point and smoking-present equilibrium point.

The qualitative behavior results depend on the smokers reproductive number0

(R ). We

obtained the smokers reproductive number by using the next generation method. Stabilities

of the model are determined by Routh-Hurwitz criteria. If0

R <1 , then the smoking- free

equilibrium point is local asymptotically stable, but If0

R >1 , then the smoking-present

equilibrium point is local asymptotically stable. The graphical representations are provided

to qualitatively support the analytical results. It concluded that with an increase in the

education campaign, the number of everyday smokers will be decrease.
