Page 1: IPD - A never before seen collaboration approach

IPD - A never before seen collaboration approach IPD is an acronym for Integrated Project Delivery method which facilitates the cooperation and collaboration between project stakeholders such as owners, architects, engineers, fabricators and general contractors etc., from the beginning of the project. This method is intentionally designed by industry experts for enhancing project productivity during planning, design and construction. The collaboration and cooperation between building stakeholders results into on time completion and delivery of the project. In other words, IPD is such a project delivery approach which ensures that all the parties associated with the project are equally important for its success and failure and hence risks and rewards are shared equally between them. The very idea of sharing the risks and rewards together motivates and forces building stakeholders to deliver their best performance both during design and construction phase. IPD and BIM should be used together for taking productivity to next level

• It's hundred percent true that Integrated project delivery approach alone is not enough for the successful execution of the project.

• It should always be used for complimenting Building Information Modeling, which is required for effective management of entire project.

• Though both IPD and BIM address different aspects of building process, but they are equally important to building stakeholders when it comes to seamless construction and timely delivery of the project.

• In other words collaboration alone cannot lead to success in construction, BIM tools are equally important for developing flawless design which can swiftly multiply the productivity of AEC professionals during final construction.

• Collaboration between building stakeholders can only be effective if accurate information is shared between them.

• And Parametric models developed through BIM tools such as Revit, Allplan and Tekla are very helpful for sharing accurate information.

• These models can be easily transferred to owners, contractors, architects and engineers etc.

In this way with the support of IPD and BIM, productivity of building professionals can be enhanced greatly.
