The iPad offers a whole new world of options for teaching and learning in today’s classroom. During this session, you will hear from two technology teachers how this device can be used to deliver instruction wirelessly, extend learning in your classroom through web-based instruction, and increase teacher & student productivity.

The iPad is really an awesome device. Portable, light, durable, fairly inexpensive, easy to find and get ahold of. Everyone knows someone with an iPad or has one themselves. Lots of schools have iPads, whether it’s one or two, or entire class sets. The question is, how do I get the most out of it? It’s gotten to the point that if I forget to bring it to school in the morning, I am depressed and have to change my plans a bit. I recently took my XC team on a field trip. We missed a day of classes, so I had to send something back to my superintendant about what we were doing, basically a little recap after wards for the school board. So I gave my iPhone to one of my girls on my team and she put together this video while we were on our way home. It was emailed out to parents and superintendant before we ever arrived home.

“Flipping” the classroom is a reverse-teaching model. Teachers deliver instruction to students through interactive videos at home. Students watch the videos for homework and complete homework assignments & enrichment activities during class time.


Who has heard of Khan academy? This whole idea of flipping the classroom, providing content in the evenings via quick videos, some interactive, and then spending class time working on assignments and activities. This idea is kinda snowballing a bit. If you have ever wanted to use the internet and iPad to deliver web-based instruction, there is an easy way to do it.
