IOSH Managing Safely Certificate The IOSH Managing Safely Certificate The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely Certificate course is for those who need to manage safely and effectively in compliance with both their organisation’s policy and best practice in safety and health.
The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the only Chartered body for health and safety professionals. With more than 37,000 individual members, they are the biggest professional health and safety organisation in the world.
Who should study for the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate? Managing safely is for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any or oganisation.
Entry Requirement There are no entry requirements for enrolling to IOSH supervising safely course, however it’s preferred to have IOSH working safely certificate or any basic level courses in occupational health and safety. Course Content
The course covers the following areas: 1. Understanding your responsibilities 5. Investigating Accidents and Incidents
2. Assessing Risk 6. Protecting your Environment
3. Controlling Risk 7. Measuring Performance
4. Identifying Hazards: Fire and Electricity, Work Equipment, Noise; Manual and Mechanical Handling, Housekeeping; Permits to Work; Chemicals and Substances, Display Screen Equipment; construction; confined Spaces and Food Safety
Assessment The assessment is a 1-hour exam containing multiple-choice and short-answer questions plus a workplace assessment (requiring around 7 hours to complete). Participants who successfully complete the assessment will be awarded the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate by IOSH.
Progression IOSH courses provide an excellent foundation for students who may wish to take their Safety and health studies further. The next step will be a Level 3 qualification such as a NEBOSH Certificates.
