IDP CRISIS IN IRAQ
IOM EMERGENCY RESPONSE ACTIVITY REPORT
ASSESSMENTS: DISPLACEMENT TRACKING MATRIX
RAPID ASSESSMENTS AND REPORTS FROM THE FIELD
IOM continues to collect accurate displacement data on the ongoing displacement crisis through the implementation of
the DTM and DTM+ by Rapid Assessment and Response Teams (RART). On 16th July, the total number of IDP families
that had been identified since the beginning of June stood at 68,049 (408,294 individuals). DTM+ and full DTM
assessments are ongoing and field teams will continue to update displacement figures and trends on a biweekly basis.
Full DTM assessments from June and July, as well as an update of DTM+, will be published in early August. For a more
detailed account of past DTM assessments, please refer to our website: www.iomiraq.net/dtm-page
SADR CITY, BAGHDAD On 21st July, IOM RART personnel, in coordination with the Ministry of Migration and
Displacement (MoMD), visited 92 mostly Turkmen Shia IDP families displaced from Telafar, who had arrived the day
before. IOM assessed their living conditions and needs, while MoMD carried out official registration. Many families are
living in schools, receiving some food, clothing, mattresses, and blankets from the host community. Some older
individuals have chronic diseases, heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure and need access to health care. There
were also 3 pregnant women and 2 disabled men.
CHRISTIAN DISPLACEMENT FROM MOSUL IOM team members reported that on 18th and 19th July, approximately
150 Christian families fled their homes in Mosul City. The majority fled to Al-Hamdaniyah and Tilkaif districts, with a few
entering the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Over the past week, IOM assisted Christian IDP families in Bartalah and in
Qaraqosh with 4 NFI distributions.
QADISSIYA During a joint IOM/MoMD/Provincial Council field visit, RART personnel in Qadissiya reported that more
than 50 families had arrived on 22 July, with all of them currently living in mosques. 20 families were located in
Ghammas in Al-Shamiya district, while 30 were in Diwaniya district. Most had come from Telafar district of Ninewa and
were from the Turkmen ethnicity. Families
confirmed that IOM was the first agency to
visit them, and requested the supply of
emergency relief items, a request that the
Team will follow up on as soon as possible.
On 23 July, an additional 20 families
arrived from Telafar to Diwaniya district,
and are staying in mosques. 470 IDP
families have been displaced to Qadissiya
since June; 350 are officially registered.
KHANAQIN, DIYALA Reports received by
IOM RART personnel indicate 5,128
families in Khanaqin displaced from several
