Triodos Sustainable Trade Fund (TSTF) is within the Emerging Markets department dedicated to providing innovative trade finance for exporters and agriculture producers in developing countries adhering to high sustainable sourcing and production standards. The specific finance arrangements are tailored to the needs of agricultural exporters in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The fund is managed by a dedicated fund team. In view of increasing market opportunities, TSTF is in the process of being restructured and transformed into a broader sustainable agriculture proposition allowing for new investors to join the fund and increase the scale of activities. The new value proposition is envisioned to combine trade finance with other agricultural sector financing. In view of these developments, Triodos is looking for an entrepreneurial individual to fulfil the position of: Investment Officer Triodos Sustainable Trade Fund (32-40 hours a week) The position is based in Zeist, The Netherlands. Applicants must have or obtain a valid work permit for the European Union. Your responsibilities Manage and expand a portfolio of trade and term loans to agricultural exporters, and producers in emerging markets Identify market and investment opportunities Analyse financial statements, operational set up, sustainability profile and market conditions leading to a comprehensive risk assessment and write investment proposals Obtain support for finance proposals by presenting findings to the investment committee Negotiate tariffs and conditions Initiate, maintain and deepen contacts with (potential) clients; accounts that contribute to sustainable development in particular in the areas of sustainable food & agriculture Maintain initiate, and deepen contacts with other stakeholders along the value chain such as trading companies in offset markets, network partners, technical assistance providers and support agencies in order to develop new opportunities Develop and broaden specific product and market knowledge, as well as following developments in sustainable agriculture Be a representative of Triodos Bank and our mission What we expect from you: The ideal candidate for this position has affinity and personal connection with the mission and values of Triodos Bank and the capacity to communicate these and translate them into daily activities. You have in-depth understanding of the sustainable trade industry as well as the dynamics of the agricultural sector in emerging markets and a thorough understanding of an investment/ credit process from origination to closing. The candidate has proven credibility and trust at all levels and is able to build relationships, has the capacity to win support for investment/credit strategies and proposals and is able to communicate with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

Academic degree, preferably Business Economics or Agricultural Sciences

Significant banking or other relevant investment experience (minimum 6 years) with a focus on (international) finance, preferably as an account manager

A relevant network in the sustainable trade/ agriculture sector

Knowledge and experience in financing sustainable trade and/ or agricultural initiatives and projectsFluent in English and French while Spanish is an advantage; both orally and in writing

Willingness to travel abroad on a regular basis

Personality

Result-oriented, self-starting entrepreneurial work attitude

A natural networker and connector with good analytical skills

Proven ability to gain credibility and trust at all levels based upon expertise and building relations Inquisitive by nature with an eye for new developments in the sector and the ability to convert this into opportunities for the fund
