Google Summary The literature searches yielded a wide range of results

relating to driver alertness software and camera

systems. The publications from the inventors on the

subject were found in multiple searches. Results

describing the core concept of the invention, with eye

and face tracking along with feature analysis to

measure driver vigilance, were found in several results

    published afte more

Patent Summary The patent database searches revealed a more limited

range of results than the literature searches. Highly

relevant results were found, but only one result was

before the priority date of the invention. This search

result incorporated face and eye movement and

characteristics for determining driver alertness, but

also depended on the data gathered from a thermal

    TECHNOLOGY ANALYSIS Idea Description

The proposed invention is an algorithm and accompanying camera system for determining

the alertness of vehicle and machine operators. Using a single camera, the image processing

software monitors for eye and face tracing as well as feature analysis in daytime and

nighttime. Factors such as head orientation, gaze directions, blinking, and yawning can

indicate whether the operator is in a potentially dangerous state, such as tiredness and

drug/alcohol influence. The system can be applied to commercial and personal vehicles,

military vehicles, industrial machines, aviation, naval vessels, and other uses; the

components can also be applied to other areas such as security and social media.

    Are there regulatory hurdles?

The specific regulatory requirements will depend on the specific jurisdictions that products

and services based on your invention are sold into. For this technology, there may be a

moderate amount of regulatory hurdles to overcome in the commercialisation process.

The following links provide information and services available to assist in understanding the

specific regulatory requirements in different jurisdictions:
