What is an Invsive Specie?

Invasive species, or also called invasive exotics are used as a nomenclature term and a type of category for the flora and fauna. Invasive species have evolved to compete but native species are not used to compete for resources. Invasive species take over the native species.

Page 3: Invasive Species

Why are native species bad?Invasive species have large impacts on the ecosystems they invade.

They affect the chemical makeup of the wáter

Use up resources that native species need

They can alter the food web

Harshly impact to on the competition for resources.

Invasive species can take out the natives.

They are expensive to society because of direct manegement.

The Killer Bees

Page 6: Invasive Species

In 1957, a beekeeper in São Paulo, Brazil, accidentally released 26 Tanzanian queen bees. These bees cause an agricultural catastrophe. It was an incredible level of melissophobia. These Queens mated with the native european honeybees, and this created the killer bees or also called the Africanized bees. They became an aextremley aggresive specie.

Page 7: Invasive Species

These Africanized honey bees swarms have invaded European honey hives in which they kill the queen and install their own leader. These bees first infiltrated into the United States in 1990 and spreaded out to the southern parts of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Luisiana, Arkansas, and Florida.

These bees sting more then one time.

There have been cases of individuals recieving

more tan 1,000 stings.

Page 9: Invasive Species

Besides being a threat to humans and kicking the native bees out, they are very bad at producing honey which makes them a threat to agricuture.

FactsThe anual cost in the United States for invasive species is about 120 billion dollars. It is estimated that the global cost of invasive species management is the same to five percent of the global economy.
