SOLAR THERMAL DEVICES

PASSIVE
• Passive solar design refers to the use of the sun’s energy for the heating, cooling and day-lighting of living spaces.
• Passive systems are simple, have few moving parts, no mechanical systems, and require minimal maintenance.
ACTIVE
• active solar energy technologies require the transport of heat through a medium and thus need components to transform and transfer the solar energy.
• Energy from active solar sources has two major applications – HEAT and ELECTRICITY
