This text is the result of a collaboration with Jérôme Pierre initiated during Jeune Création 2012 programme reflecting on and promoting young international artists. The exhibition was displayed at Centquatre, Paris 4/11/12- 11/11/12.

Jérôme Pierre works along with various lines. Originally a graffiti artist, taught in image and video graphics but also experienced in computer art, he uses different mediums extensively to create an original body of works. Since 2007, the artist has been unfolding his reflection in complex systems of images.

Through his work on archetypal shapes and forms conceived as founding element of a culture, Jérôme Pierre is linked to a complex History of Art. But far from being petrified in it, he takes pleasure in diverting its sacrosanct symbols with a witty irony. In the artist’s practice, recurring ideas of balance and control live together with creations stamped by chance and from which emanates a sweet but uncomfortable perfume of vanity.

Jérôme Pierre forces himself into formal savings of means, thus giving full strength to artworks that constantly resonate in our minds. He engrosses the viewer in a latent hyper imagery to open space for a timeless but dynamic reflection on the established symbols of society. Through the attention he pays to objects exemplifying culture, the artist turns himself into the illusionless revelator of the heavy load of images.
