INTRODUCTION: Centre of Excellence for Bovine Genetics (CEBG) is research and training institute of Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps (RV & FC). It was established by RV & FC in collaboration with Planning Commission of Pakistan and Livestock Dairy Development Board (LDDB) to improve the genetic potential of livestock at Military Farms cattle herd and national level. After closure of project CEBG is working as independent organization of Pak Army since 1 st July 2011. CEBG consist of Embryo Transfer Wing and Semen Production Wing. Embryo transfer wing is equipped with a modern in vivo embryo production and transfer lab. Elite Donors (Imported Frisian, Pak Frisian, Crossbred and Brahman) from cattle herd of Military Farms are kept here for the production of superior genetics having embryos. Locally produced and imported embryos are then transferred into recipients. Elite calves are reared at CEBG ET Wing and provided with optimum nutritional and managerial conditions. Male calves fulfilling the desired selection criteria are shifted to semen production wing while elite female heifers join the nucleus donor herd after first lactation. These embryos are available for purchase to the farmers as well at subsidized rates as a source of quick genetic improvement of their animals. Being the only successful ET institute of Pakistan, CEBG ET Wing is also working as Artificial insemination (A.I) and Embryo Transfer (ET) training institute. Semen Production Wing of CEBG is equipped with a modern semen processing lab having CASA (Ceros II) for semen analysis and Integrated system 4 (IS4 Machine) for automatic filling, printing and sealing of straws to avoid human errors and contamination. Use of imported extender and strict compliance to semen processing standards ensure the reliability on this SPU. All the bulls kept here come from embryo transfer or A.I of very elite cows with proven bulls (imported) semen. The semen doses of superior genetics and quality are sold to the various livestock organizations and farmers at very economical prices. INTRODUCTION: Centre of Excellence for Bovine Genetics (CEBG) is research and training

institute of Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps (RV & FC). It was established by RV & FC in

collaboration with Planning Commission of Pakistan and Livestock Dairy Development Board

(LDDB) to improve the genetic potential of livestock at Military Farms cattle herd and national

level. After closure of project CEBG is working as independent organization of Pak Army since 1 st

July 2011. CEBG consist of Embryo Transfer Wing and Semen Production Wing. Embryo transfer

wing is equipped with a modern in vivo embryo production and transfer lab. Elite Donors

(Imported Frisian, Pak Frisian, Crossbred and Brahman) from cattle herd of Military Farms are kept

here for the production of superior genetics having embryos. Locally produced and imported

embryos are then transferred into recipients. Elite calves are reared at CEBG ET Wing and

provided with optimum nutritional and managerial conditions. Male calves fulfilling the desired

selection criteria are shifted to semen production wing while elite female heifers join the nucleus

donor herd after first lactation. These embryos are available for purchase to the farmers as well at

subsidized rates as a source of quick genetic improvement of their animals. Being the only

successful ET institute of Pakistan, CEBG ET Wing is also working as Artificial insemination (A.I) and

Embryo Transfer (ET) training institute.

Semen Production Wing of CEBG is equipped with a modern semen processing lab having CASA

(Ceros II) for semen analysis and Integrated system 4 (IS4 Machine) for automatic filling, printing

and sealing of straws to avoid human errors and contamination. Use of imported extender and

strict compliance to semen processing standards ensure the reliability on this SPU. All the bulls

kept here come from embryo transfer or A.I of very elite cows with proven bulls (imported)

semen. The semen doses of superior genetics and quality are sold to the various livestock

organizations and farmers at very economical prices.
