Steve Wood, Senior Associate AnalystSteve was previously Managing Director for Northern Europe at UPS Supply Chain Solutions (UPS SCS) from 2002-April 2010. In this role he was responsible for logistics activities in the Nordics, UK, Ireland, and the Benelux, including those related to warehousing, transportation, freight, spare-parts logistics, and transport management. Ti undertook a review of the Client’s offering, investigated the competitive environment and surveyed in excess of 1,500 customers / potential customers in order to gain a better understanding of their precise requirements and perceptions of the Client. A strategy was then developed on how the Client could best serve this market.UK / Irish market Repositioning Exercise (DHL)The UK and Irish division of DHL Freight asked Ti to help identify a number of potentially attractive vertical sectors that it could target to generate new, profitable, business. The markets were ranked by attractiveness, based on the Client’s ability to serve them, size of the accessible markets, barriers to entry, dominance of major 3PLs, etc.Strategic Re-positioning Exercise (Hoyer Global Logistics)Ti undertook an in-depth analysis into the global tank container sector, reviewed the financial and operations of the main competitors and advised the client on how it could best exploit opportunities in the market.European Network Restructuring (Unilever)Provided both primary and secondary research in order to assist in the redesign and restructuring of the Group’s European distribution network.Detailed Market Sizing Across all EU markets (GeoPost)Ti has recently completed a major market sizing / share exercise across all EU markets. Advice on Anti-competitive position of UPS / TNT deal (Various Investment Banks)Ti provided on-going advice to a number of European and US investment banks and PE firms on potential competition issues regarding the proposed UPS TNT acquisition and what remedies are likely to be required to overcome these.Chinese and Russian Express Markets – Market Sizing and Competitor Profiling Study (UPS)Ti assisted a US integrator in sizing the Chinese and Russian express markets. The project involved a number of workshops whereby senior logisticians discussed a number of potential future scenarios and assed their possible impact on information needs.Analysis of IT Architecture and Dalian Port (Strategy Marketing Consultancy)Ti undertook an in-depth analysis of the IT infrastructure at Dalian Port as part of a larger strategic marketing study.
