Scrum is a subset of the Agile product development process. It is named for the scrummage formation used in rugby, where players interlock and attempt to move the ball as a unit, rather than handing it off from player to player.
Similarly, your team will not hand off the project in a linear path from planning, to building, to testing, to deploying. Instead, your team will loop through these steps multiple times. In each loop, or sprint, your team will fully build a small piece of your project. These pieces are called backlog items.
After every sprint, your team will have a chance to evaluate its progress. Depending on the feedback you receive, you can modify, reorder or remove the remaining backlog items as well as add new ones.
