Team Development…
Team development is a systematic approach to defining, selecting, coaching and
motivating a team to function efficiently whilst effectively achieving a specifically
predetermined result.

Team vs. Group
• A group is an assemblage of more than one person, at
the same place and time.
• A team is a group of people who share a common
mission, irrespective of whether such mission has a
specific duration or whether such mission is repetitive in
nature.
• A team does not have to be at the same place and time
to exist; in fact it is not even necessary for a team to
ever meet each other.www.derekhendrikz.com
Team Building vs. Team Development
• Team building is the facilitation of various types of activities
with the aim of enhancing social relations and defining roles
within teams.
• Team building interventions are mostly used to find and
address interpersonal problems within a team.
• Team development aims to specifically prepare a group of
people to achieve common objectives.
• Team development includes process efficiency as well as
coaching and motivation to achieve repetitive or once-off
goals and objectives.www.derekhendrikz.com
