WHAT IS NETWORK?

Network is the Connectivity between two or more

computer to share the data and Resources such as

Printer and CD-Rom etc.

Advantage of network

LAN Local area Network

A LAN refers to combination of computer Hardware and connects a group of

nodes covering small physical areas.

LAN normally does not exceed tens of kilometers in size.

It is entirely contained within a room or floor or Building

Page 5: Introduction to network

WAN WIDE AREA NETWORK

WAN includes all networks larger than LAN.

Normally, Multiconnection of LAN is called as WAN

A WAN spans a large Physical distance like country

to country.

COMPUTING MODEL

Computing Models Technologies have been

developed because for the required of following

model.

Centralized Computing

Cms main centre in Andrei > It’s have its sub-

branch in Mumbai are Thane Dadar Borivali etc.

Single Tower is known as Terminal.

Distribution Computing

As the computer industry matured smaller PC were created that

allowed individual total control over their own computer.

This personal computer structure called Distributed computing.

Instead of centralizing all computers processing into a single mainframe

distribution computing use multiple smaller computer to achieve the

same processing goal.

E.g. Department wise Distribution that means structure.

Server cms head offices in Anderi

Collaborative Computing

A new model called collaborative computing and also called Cooperative

processing is becoming an important trend

Instead of simply communication data between computing collaborative

computing use two or more computer to accomplish the same

processing task.

E.g. Different server is connected or share with each other is called

collaborative computing

Facebook login ID may be Gmail or Yahoo.com so they both have trust

relation with each other to access the FB Account.

ELEMENT OF NETWORK

Server

Client

Peer

Server are only allowed to provide services

Clients are only allowed to request services from other

Peers may do both con-currently

Peer to Peer Network allow any entity to both request and provide

Server-Client or Server-Centric network

It involve strictly define role

By definition a server centric network place restriction upon which entity may make request of services of them.

Current, most popular personal computer networks are server-centric

Peer to Peer Network Server-client network

It required client OS It required client and server

OS

Each and every computer has

same right

Server has high right and

decide the permission for

client

No centralized control over

share resource

High security

It work with 10 and 15 user Client and server support

unlimited user

It is known as Workgroup It is known as Domain
