Introduction
• Integers are set of positive and negative numbers. If represented in a number line. They can represented as show below.

Representation
• Day to Day terms that can be converted to positive or negative integers.
• You can represent some of the situations in the form of positive or negative numbers.
• John gained ten pounds = +10
• Trevor body temperature has reduced by 5 points = -5
• Jim is 5 feet ahead of John = +5 feet.

Absolute Values
• Absolute value is the positive value or magnitude of any given expression.
• They are represented inside the pipes. |x|
• Examples:• |-5| = 5
• |10| = 10
• |-23| = 23
• |0| = 0
• Problems:• |x-5| = -5 , Solve x.

Integer Operators
• Integer Addition: The result obtained after adding the given integers. • Find the addition of 5, 4 , 200 ?
• Sol:
• Integer Subtraction: The result obtained by subtracting the second from the first number.• What is the value of (343 - 29)?
• Solution:
• Jim who used to be 215 pounds lost 17 pounds in the past six months. What is his current weight.• Sol: pounds.

Integer Operators
• Integer Division: The result obtained first number with the second number. • If 15 chocolates are distributed among 3 children, How many each child will
get ? • Sol: Chocolates.
• Integer Multiplication: The result obtained after multiplying given numbers.• What is the total amount John need to pay if three of his children got a toy
which is 12 dollars each? • Sol: dollars.

Integer Operations
• Parentheses: An important bracket that is used in Integer operators.• Eg: (2+3) - 4 = 5 – 4 = 1
• Eg: (2+3) * 4 = 5 *4 = 20 { Not 2 + 3*4 = 14 }
• Solving integers expressions – Basic Problem solving skill.
• Note: Parentheses have highest priority
• Some of the examples • E.g: (x+y)-z-(a-b-c)+d*e . Solve this

Problems:
• Pattern: (x-y)-z-a• E.g: (2000 - 155) – 165 – 45 =
• E.g: (156 - 133) – (124 - 34) =
• Pattern: (((x-y)+z)-a) or (( a + b ) – (-c-d))• E.g: ((( 15 – 12) + 9) – 1) =
• E.g: (( 67 + 33 ) - ( -23 - 27 )) =
• Pattern: (x*y)/z + a , (x)(y)/(z)*()• E.g: (5*4)/ 2 + 15 =
• E.g: (6)(3)/(9) * 5 =

Problems:
• Pattern: In a digit sum of tens, hundreds, tenths, hundredths.• What is the sum of hundreds and tenths when 400 is divided by 3.
• Pattern: Finding the minimum value of the purchase in the group.• A basket of fruits 95 is divided amount 8 people. If 4 people got at least 10
fruits but not more than 12 fruits, and other 3 people got at least 5 fruits. What is the maximum number that the last person will get ?
