Project BackgroundProject Background

To reduce energy consumption, which is an urgent issue for the Asian countries, we have carried out the “Project for Energy-saving Diagnosis with IT” based on the “Asia Knowledge Economy Initiative” at the expense of the Japanese government.

• The Asian countries have recently made rapid growth in a wide range• The Asian countries have recently made rapid growth in a wide range of fields from the key industries to the finance/information industries

• Their energy consumption has risen two and a half times in quantity, compared to that in 1990

Current situation of the Asian countries

• Japan proposed this Initiative in the ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting of 2008 as a framework for her cooperation with the other Asian countriesIt d t th t th A i t i h ld d t k f t i t d

Asia Knowledge Economy Initiative

• It advocates that the Asian countries should undertake a future-oriented, cooperative project intended to construct a sphere of high-level knowledge economy, based on the experience and expertise garnered by Japan

• The “Project for Energy-saving Diagnosis with IT” can be positioned as a specific cooperative project to promote IT utilization in the economic activities

Activities in FY2010Activities in FY2010

This project has carried out five activities to promote the diffusion of Japanese energy-saving technologies in the Asian area. This lecture will introduce Activities ①, ②, and ③.g g ①, ②, ③

We dispatched energy-saving experts to entities such as data centers, public facilities, plants, and factories, and conducted several activities

①Dispatching Green IT

energy-saving diagnosis intended for energy-saving, such as facility diagnoses, optimized designs, and improvement of effect estimates

We invited to Japan officials responsible for and/or managers of facilities in local companies that would receive an energy-saving

energy saving diagnosismissions

On-site training diagnosis and carried out training to step up their continual approaches to energy-saving

We compiled a best practices collection that introduces some excellent Japanese solutions to energy-saving, and held workshops to explain

for Green IT

Compiling a best practices collection and details of the diagnosed results to relevant local companies and to

request them to provide appropriate data to us in the future

We hold seminars in Singapore and in China to introduce Green IT

collection and holding a Green IT workshop

Holding a Greencase examples in Japan and the deliverables from this project
