Quick Statements• Identity struggles are visible at the restaurants at El Pueblo• Its very important when Central Americans go through the

effort of creating their own “space” that it stays Central American. To show Pride in their Culture. El Katracho, a Honduran Restaurant succeeds in this.

• In Mi Pueblo’s case, it felt too Mexican, certainly not what we were expecting when entering the restaurant. (The adds stated they were Mexican and El Salvadorean)

• Rebecca states it is not good for a restaurant to do this, or for those wanting to learn about Central American Culture. It tricks them in a way.

Baleadas are one of the most popular Honduran foods, but what are they?• Baleadas are to Honduras, what burritos are to Mexico• Baleadas are one of the most well known Honduran fast

foods and are extremely popular. • A basic Baleadas contains thick flour tortilla, folded in half to

contain beans and cheese, grated queso duro, and a sauce very similar to sour cream called mantequilla.

• Baleadas are typically eaten during breakfast or dinner.

What makes El Katracho stand out?• El Katracho stands strongly and proudly for their Honduran

Restaurant. They are not afraid to show there flag proudly and with grace. El Katracho gets especially popular doing soccer, or football, well “futball” when Hondurans are playing! They are a bit like this in those cases…

Why should you go here?• Nonetheless, El Katracho succeeds in providing that sense

of home feeling for Hondurans looking for that.• The service is slow but worth it, the food is definitely on par.• The restaurant is a nice size and is very family orientated.• They have a karaoke bar for those times you just want to

sing! (on Thursdays and weekends).• The workers are very welcoming and they look like they

truly enjoy being there.• It doesn’t get any better then El Katracho. It’s traditional,

food is great, and pricing of food is fairly cheep.

• Think Mexico and your senses will be aroused by the exotic colors, exciting music and the aroma of exotic food. If you are looking to relish authentic Mexican food such as tacos, enchiladas, tamales, nachos and steak, walk in to Restaurant Mi Pueblo, a family owned restaurant for food, drinks, music and fun. You can not only enjoy warm tortilla chips served with salsa topped with onions but also enjoy margaritas if you are in mood for a drink. The restaurant has been satisfying the palettes of hundreds of customers by serving mouthwatering traditional Mexican food made with fresh ingredients for the past nineteen years. The restaurant menu serves seafood, Salvadorian food, and Mexican food.

My Experience• Food and Service was Decent • Workers were more concerned with their sop operas

(novelas) • Unique but not Traditional • The list of food on the restaurants menu that would be

considered Salvadorian was roughly the size of a pinky.• Mi Pueblo is a fusion of Mexican and Salvadorian food,

mainly Mexican. • Language barrier (menu, workers)

Overall• Since many Central Americans work hard in maintaining

and promoting Central American culture, they need to stick to what they know

• -Family recipes no culture clash• Decorated accordingly for customers to get a feel of the

place’s unique atmosphere and vibe• The project helped me learn the importance of keeping a

culture’s space unique and special, if they become “westernized” or “americanized” a whole culture could be extinct. A bit exaggerated I know but it could happen!
