Rohan Silva
Rohan Silva is the co-founder of Second Home,
the world's most iconic working environment for
creative companies.
Rohan was previously Senior Policy Adviser to
the British Prime Minister, where he developed
some of the UK's key enterprise policies, such as
the Seed EIS tax break, Entrepreneur Relief and
Entrepreneur Visas. In addition, Rohan created the Government's 'Tech City' initiative to
support the growth of the technology cluster in East London.
Rohan was named a World Economic Forum 'Young Global Leader' in 2014, and is also
Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. He handles a

as a trainer, presenter and coach. He specialises in advanced presentation
skills, pitch coaching and speech writing

Walk the Talk - Nick Morgan, Group
CEO: Big Cat
Nick is the co-founder and Group CEO of
Big Cat Group. He has been involved in
the industry for over 16 years, and has
particular experience in producing large
scale events and health and safety
management for events. Beginning with creating some of the Midlands biggest nationally
recognised club nights in the nineties, Nick and co-founder Anthony Tattum then created
Big Cat - which now boasts four departments delivering Events, Marketing, Creative Design
and Public Relations for its UK client base, providing them and their customers with
amazing experiences. Big Cat are currently working with brands such Secret Cinema,
MAMA & Company and Holi One World Festivals

Play Like and Expert - Yesim Kunter, Play Expert & Futurist
Yesim Kunterh describes herself as a "Play Expert, Futurist,
Designer.... A Curious Brain and an Explorer...". After growing
up in Turkey, she has travelled the world in her pursuit of
exploring how human behaviour and product design interlink,
how imagination and play can lead to brilliant creations.
Having worked with FIT, Toys R Us and Lego, Yesim moved to London to work as a Futurist,
exploring the unknown, finding new meanings and creating new experiences and
translating that knowledge into concrete ideas. She now works at her consultancy Play to
Innovate, running workshops and speaking at conferences to demonstrate how play can be
a powerful learning tool.
State of the Nation: Social Action - Emily Dyson, Special Projects and Business
Engagement Adviser Step Up to Serve
Emily is an Advisor to the Step Up To Serve. #iwill is a national campaign that aims to make
social action part of life for as many 10 to 20 year-olds as possible by the year 2020.
Through collaboration and partnership it is spreading the word about the benefits of youth
social action, working to embed it in the journey of young people and creating fresh
opportunities for the participation. Emily has also worked as a Briefing Coordinator to the
Deputy Prime Minister and as a Project Manager for the Ministry of Defence.

Start Up Session - Laurie Wiseman, CEO East London Small Business
Centre
Laurie is responsible for the overall management and strategy at East
London Small Business Centre. Having joined ELSBC in 2014, he
oversees all the major functions at the Centre and focuses on both
contract winning and delivery. An entrepreneur himself, Laurie set up
both a TV production company and a world-leading digital publishing business, Primal
Pictures, from scratch – selling the latter in 2012 to Informa plc. His interest is in start-ups –
the pitfalls and the joys – and brings direct experience of initiating business ideas, especially
in the creative sector, and building long term profitable enterprises.
Hogwarts for Campaigners - Genevieve Dawson, Programme
Manager Campaign Bootcamp
Genevieve is the programme manager at Campaign Bootcamp. Prior
to joining the Bootcamp team she designed the Great
Men project which aims to empower boys and men to challenge
negative gender stereotypes. She campaigns with feminist, anti-
austerity and climate groups in London. When she's not talking to Bootcampers about their
troublemaking plans she's to be found singer-songwritering around Brixton.

Rushanara Ali MP – UpRising Chair of
Trustees
Rushanara Ali is the Labour Member of
Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow and
the UpRising Chair of Trustees. She grew up in
her constituency attending Mulberry school
and Tower Hamlets College. She was the first
in her family to go to University and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford
University. Until her resignation from Labour’s front bench in September 2014 over her
decision to abstain on the vote on airstrikes in Iraq, Rushanara served as Shadow Minister
for Education and Young People, and between October 2010 and October 2013, as Shadow
Minister for International Development. From November 2014 until the 2015 General
Election, Rushanara served as a member of the Treasury Select Committee.
Prior to her election in May 2010, she was Associate Director of the Young Foundation,
where she co-founded UpRising a national leadership development and employability
charity which has helped thousands of young people develop their campaigning and
leadership skills; she also co-founded the Social Innovation Exchange social which works to

connect innovators and social entrepreneurs around the world to collaborate to tackle
major social problems. Rushanara also worked at the Communities Directorate of the
Home Office leading a programme of work to support local areas following the 2001 riots in
Bradford, Burnley and Oldham; at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where she helped
establish what became the Forced Marriage Unit; as a Research Fellow at the Institute for
Public Policy Research (1999-2002) working on anti-discrimination issues, and as
Parliamentary Assistant for Oona King, former MP for Bethnal Green & Bow (1997-1999).
She has also worked as the Research Assistant to Lord Young of Dartington (author of the
1945 Labour Party manifesto), helping him to set up Language Line, a national telephone
interpreting company and Futureversity, a youth charity which has helped over a 100,000
young people – raising aspirations, cutting youth crime and getting them into work. She
has previously served as a Commissioner on the London Child Poverty Commission; a board
member of Tower Hamlets College; a Trustee of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation; a member of
the Tate Britain Council and a member of the Home Office Working Group on Preventing
Extremism established after the 7/7 London bombings.
Alice Memminger – CEO UpRising
Alice Memminger is the Chief Executive of UpRising, a UK wide youth leadership development organisation. Alice has been working in the third sector as a consultant and senior manager for the past nine years with a wide variety of charities across the country. She joined UpRising from Sue Ryder, where she worked

as Head of Strategic Planning and Programme Delivery. Other recent roles include Head of Planning and Performance for Parkinson's UK, Managing Director of Hammersmith and Fulham Circle and Head of Trading and Social Enterprise for Age UK Barking and Dagenham.
Alice has developed extensive experience and expertise whilst working with Boards and Senior Leadership Teams, gaining a strong reputation for transformative strategic plans and driving through ambitious change programmes. Known for achieving successful outcomes through effectively facilitating authentic strategic dialogue and challenging discussions, she has a proven track record of approaching her work with tenacity while inspiring and energising those involved in the process.
