Always on the go… An avid runner, Seshu Madhavapeddy is no stranger to pushing the limits to reach the finish line. As the gen-eral manager for the Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) mobile Internet devices (MID) business unit, he strives to stay ahead and set new records, keeping TI’s solutions ahead in the fast-paced MID race. Madhavapeddy hits the ground running every day at the office, guiding TI’s business strategy, software and hardware platform specifications, marketing efforts, strategic partnerships and customer engagements for the MID market.

A key member of TI’s family … TI’s broad product portfolio provides the full range of power-optimized tools required to achieve success in the emerging MID market – from applications processors, mobile connectivity solutions and analog components to software solutions that deliver a compelling user experience. Under Madhavapeddy’s guidance, TI’s MID team helps customers best utilize those tools to deliver complete, differentiated products.

In addition to this role, Madhavapeddy manages a handful of strategic focus areas on behalf of TI’s overall OMAP platform busi-ness, including high-level operating system strategy, 3G modem interface approach, and third-party and ecosystem strategy.

Breakthrough innovation… Madhavapeddy describes the wireless industry as “innovative, global and consumer friendly.” He embraces the opportunity to bring break-through innovations to market resulting in mass consumer uptake. In the process, Madha-vapeddy understands he’s shaping one of the most important mechanisms for the future – wireless communications. With wireless technology, consumers can be productive anywhere, any time – they can talk, work or play wherever life takes them.

The wireless revolution… From emerging economies to developed markets, Madhavapeddy considers wireless communica-tions a “catalyst for economic growth.” He is proud to work in an industry that bridges the communication gap across the globe: “All of a sudden, with no prior access to technology, people have cell phones. These devices spark a revolution that we never thought possible,” according to Madhavapeddy. As newer product lines come to life – especially MIDs – they bring this revolution to the next level, making even more futuristic web 2.0 applications a reality.

Outside of TI … Outside of work, Madhavapeddy most enjoys family time with his wife and three children. All three kids are accomplished musicians, so there is never a dull or a quiet moment in the Madhavapeddy household. Madhavapeddy himself counts on exercise as a key to relieving stress. He turns to bands like U2, Crash Test Dummies and Coldplay for extra energy during a run, and also for inspiration throughout the day. Outside of family activities and exercise routines, you can find him dipping into contemporary history books in his free time.

Madhavapeddy also is very well traveled. He has lived and worked in four countries – India, US, France, Germany – and has a lan-guage base to prove it. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Telugu, and semi-fluent in French and German.

Previous experience … Prior to joining TI, Madhavapeddy was the president and CEO at Sipera Systems, a company that offers market-leading, unified communications security solutions. Madhavapeddy successfully led Sipera from its inception through product general availability, won contracts with many Fortune 500 customers, and achieved milestone revenues. Before joining Sipera, Madhavapeddy founded Spatial Wireless, which specializes in mobile soft-switching products. He built the company from the ground up and as Chief Strategy Officer, led the company’s product & business strategy, marketing and key customer engage-ments to achieve nation-wide network deployments in Tier-1 mobile operators. In 2004, Spatial Wireless was acquired by Alcatel.

Madhavapeddy also previously worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Austin Ventures, and as a director of product manage-ment and marketing for Nortel’s wireless internet product portfolio. He was also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Paderborn in Germany and the University of Texas at Dallas.

Education … Madhavapeddy holds a doctorate in computer science from the University of Texas at Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.
