Staying in the Loop about NGS
The AnswerBook already has more than 20 items related to the switch to NGS
NGS Project Status Report
What have we been doing since “Platinum” was announced in 2006?
6
A New User Interface “From the Ground Up”
Development has included creating (from scratch!): 3,500+ CU*BASE program panels 2,700 custom panels (90%+ are loan forms) 150 panels with graphs or other special features Online help updates for 2,000+ topics ...our biggest user interface undertaking since GOLD went live in 2000!
NGS Team 3 developers 5 QC testers (1 contractor hired just for NGS)
7
Testing a New User Interface
NGS installed on all CU*Answers staff terminals in July Staff $$ incentive program to boost NGS testing
Beta started this week! Western Districts (30 workstations), CorePlus (156), Safe Harbor (16)
Will convert new clients directly to NGS starting with Allegius CU on Nov. 1
8
What about online help?
We are nearing completion of an update to all online help topics... new online help WILL be released along with NGS
Moving to web-based help Same “WebHelp” application that is currently available from
www.cuanswers.com Allows for immediate updates of help topics, not dependent on the
schedule of GOLD releases Your workstation will also
contain a local copy of help (gold.hlp) so you can add a desktop shortcut to get to help without launching CU*BASE
9
NGS “Phase 2”
150+ booklets still will need updated pictures and content Updates will be ongoing starting in 2009
125+ online training demo movies need to be recreated Online courses will still show GOLD versions into 2009 Some “show me” and “let me” movies may be consolidated or eliminated
40+ Excel / comma-delimited downloads to be reprogrammed Includes some customized graphing also; will prioritize with about two-
thirds to be completed in the first pass, and the rest throughout 2009
Favorite background colors, and more... ...we could spend hours just talking about the cool things we
want to do with NGS (but that’s a topic for another day)
NGS enhancements will be a key focus for all our releases, for many months (years!) to come!
NGS Sneak Peek!
Credit union logos will be incorporated into the NGS look starting early in 2009...now is a
great time to order fresh, high-res logo artwork!
11
Quirk Alert! Long Passwords + “Windows Classic” Theme = Problem for NGS!
Masked password fields (******) cannot be supported by NGS when using the “Windows Classic” theme on your desktop Changes the dimensions of the input field just slightly and you can’t type
your 10th character in!

Person performing the upgrade must Have administrator rights to each individual workstation Physically run the automated application on each workstation
– Requires about 15 minutes per workstation, depending on hardware
16
Implementation Methods
Deployment Method Description
Good CD-ROM
We ship a CD to you and you physically walk it around to each individual PC and run the installation routine.
Downsides: One workstation at a time (or burn extra CDs) Repeat entire process if software update is needed
Better Existing GOLD-Master PC
Download the install package to your GOLD-Master PC, similar to a normal GOLD update, then go to each individual PC and run the installation routine over the network connection to the GOLD-Master PC.
Downsides: Large install package VERY slow installation process (will probably take hours!) Repeat download if software update is needed
Best GUAPPLE
Easiest, fastest, least staff time! We’ll push the install package to your GUAPPLE, you run a simple command on each workstation to install it. Multiple workstations can be updated simultaneously. When software changes occur, we’ll push the changes down and they will automatically be applied.
Downsides: Cost to credit union for the GUAPPLE unit(s)
17
Is your hardware ready?
What implementation method will use you? (GUAPPLE is best!) We expect that once NGS is live, we may be doing updates
weekly, if not daily, for a period of time ...now is the time to get your GUAPPLE!
With GUAPPLE: 97 CUs (227 branches) Without GUAPPLE: 35 CUs (63 branches)
Check out this document on the Kitchen!

Do you have the right size monitors?
NGS will completely fill a monitor set to 1024x768 resolution size GOLD fills 800x600
...now is the time to upgrade your monitors!
NGS screens are 25% larger!
Check out this document on the Kitchen!

Installation Support ServicesImplementation Period Runs Oct. 20 – Nov. 14!
Our WESCO Net Systems technicians are planning to provide after hours and weekend support during the implementation period
So that we can plan for appropriate support staff to be available, you will need to sign up for a specific time when you will be starting the install on all of your workstations Remember to allow at least 15 minutes per workstation If you have multiple branches, you can work them simultaneously with
different staff, or spread them out– Depends on your staff availability– Also depends on your implementation method! (CD-ROM, GOLD-
Master PC, or GUAPPLE)
20
What You Need to Do Now

Performing the Installation

every workstation (with administrator privileges) and run the routine Your assigned technician will be available to answer questions and

make sure you are signed up!
