NAVIGATE THE NET
Introducing New Column Editors
Wc would likc to use this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new co-editors of the Navigate the Net colunm. Ovcr thc past four years, the colunln has been well served by Dudee Chiang, 1994-1995, and Eric Deloziel; 1996-1997, with topics ranging from subject webliographies to Wcb page dcsign and structure.
Dudee Chiang, the column's first editor, wrotc,
Thc purposc of this colu~nn is to dcscribc resources that arc particu- larly useful to medical librarians. "Resourcc" hcre is used in its broadest sensc; it can be an onlinc catalog or a database. . . . Like travehng to a ncw country you need a map that shows both the points of intcrest and how to get to thosc places; this column will try to point out whcrc thc information scrvcrs arc and how to access them.'
Our hopes are to advance, not change, the original mission of Navigatc the Net. The diversity of medical information on thc Intcrnct, along with where and how we access it, is the cssence of this colu~nn. We plan to keep the contcnt broadly focused, practical, and useful. We will strive to kecp you up to date with the most useful information about Intcrnct technology, design, and layout as it pertains to medical reference information and resources. Additionally, wc hope that the variety of articles will serve as a guidc to thc possibilitics of thc Internet. We would also like to extend an invitation to our colleagues using Lhc Nct to scnd us suggestions and invite writers to submit articles.
With these goals in front of us, and the fine work lefl by the previous
