Perform automated reconciliations of the inventory using standard barcode scanning equipment
View, register, check-in, check-out, transfer, edit, and dispose containers
Track weights using integrated laboratory balances Print barcodes by user, group, location, or command Receive orders, including partial orders Fulfill requests made to any stockroom Print delivery sheets, including barcodes Set expiration dates Create standard reports in Microsoft Excel Track and view preferred storage conditions Configure look-up data fields, such as chemical class and container
type Create purchase orders Assign company preferences, such as preferred suppliers

for the environmental safety and health:
Control access to hazardous or highly regulated substances
Present warnings, flags, and messages to users handling or purchasing hazardous substances
Set amount thresholds
Send email notifications when certain compounds are requested or ordered
Provide instant access to hosted MSDS information in Internet Explorer
Provide access to regional-specific R&S phrases and hazard class data
Create reports for various regulatory agencies
Additional tools

LIMS systems improve efficiency in the lab, and ensure that data is systematically archived and accessible within the group via a web-based system.
They are helpful in the generation of publications because data is available to the researcher at all times, in a structured, easily retrievable way.
These functions are indispensable components of modern combinatorial and high-throughput experiment design.
The reagent management will be improved and costs will be directly saved by eliminating unnecessary orders.
They are highly advantageous over traditional “analog” notebooks to support patent claims or to fulfill compliance with the US Food and Drug Administration‟s (FDA) rules.
Last but no least a better understanding of the structure/property relationship is possible.
