What is WeChat?WeChat, known as Weixin in China, is a mobile social platform used regularly used by 650million Chinese
people. It is the world’s fastest growing social app accounts for more than half of the time Chinese spend
online on their smartphones. 55% of users access it more than ten times a day. To put it in context, WeChat is
like Facebook and WhatsApp, but with more functions. WeChat has an “app-within-app” structure, meaning
that an individual official account, such as the one we are creating for the Great Ocean Road, can act like a
mini web site within the WeChat.
Why use WeChat?Chinese people are the most active social media users on the planet. They are wedded to their mobile devices
to gather information, connect and share with friends, to purchase and transact, to hail a taxi, and locate an
address. 75% of independent travellers who disperse to the Great Ocean Road travel with a mobile phone, and

HOME/POSTS
The “Home” page of a WeChat app contains a list of posts as
well as access to the primary navigation. The primary menu
will contain three items (bottom of the screen).

Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism Partners will have the opportunity to feature in the Posts, Destinations and Promotions sections.
GREAT OCEAN ROAD DESTINATIONSFrom the Destinations screen (example pictured left), users can select from one of the 9 images representing the destinations along the Great Ocean Road.
DESTINATIONEach destination will have a main page (pictured left). This page will contain some introductory text about the area, followed by a list of things on offer eg. Places to Eat, Places to Stay, Attractions/Tours, Special Offers, Must Dos, Contacts.
Only customers opting for a Gold listing, will receive exposure on this page. They will also be listed in the Must Do section for the destination.
OPERATORSFrom the destination page, users can select what they are interested in (eg. Places to Eat) and will be taken to a page (example pictured left) containing a list of all partners in this category.
All Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism partners will have their business listed on this page (refer to Free Listing for details).
Partners opting for Silver or Gold listings will have links to a full page extended listing.
PROMOTIONSIf your business has opted for the Silver or Gold listing, your advertised specials or promotions will appear in this list. On selecting the desired special, the user will be taken to a full screen containing details of the promotion.
POSTSIf your business has opted for the Silver or Gold listing, your customers will
be prompted to visit your listing and/or your promotions via way of posts on the Home screen. On selecting the desired post, the user will be taken to a full screen containing details of the promotion or your full page business listing.
How to participate?
