Travel Visa

Make sure you have completed the ESTA to travel to the US - every UK attendee must complete this at least 72 hours before departure. Please also make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.

HINTS AND TIPS

Tipping

Tipping is voluntary; gratuities are not automatically added to the bill except in some cases for large groups. Tipping guidelines: 15% for servers, 20% for outstanding service, 15% for taxi drivers, $1 per bag for doormen and porters.

Electricity

The electricity used in Orlando, FL. is 110 volts. Appliances brought from Europe, Africa and most of Asia and Latin America will require a voltage transformer.

Time Zone

Orlando FL. is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone (BST - 5 hours).

Safety and Security

With any international travel there are risks, but many steps have been taken to mitigate them. The Microsoft Global Security team has been involved at every stage of our planning process to focus on participant safety. Our programme plan has been carefully designed to reduce participant risk exposure. The safety and security of our attendees is Microsoft’s first priority.

Please remember these common sense security guidelines when using the conference centre:

• Do not use recording devices, cameras or laser pointers in conference sessions.

• All personal items at the convention centre are at the owners risk, please be sensible with your valuables.

• Immediately report suspicious behaviour and if you need to contact the Emergency Services, call 911.

AirportsOrlando is served by two major airports:

Orlando International Airport (MCO) Just under 16 miles (25km) away from the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). It’s worth noting that this airport is very large, with several exits, make sure you know which exit you need. Please view the MCO Arrivals Guide for more information.

Sanford International Airport (SFB) Located 18 miles (29km) north-east of Orlando and approximately 40 miles (64km) from the Orange County Convention Center.

ShuttlesTransportation from the Orlando International Airport is accessible on a 24-hour basis outside baggage claim for easy transfer to all area hotels.

TaxisAt Orlando International Airport, taxis are available on Level 1 on the A and B sides of the Terminal, in locations A16, A17, B20-B22 on the Commercial Lane.

Car hireCar hire companies are located in Terminal A and Terminal B on the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1) at Orlando International Airport.
