The History of Editing/Post

Production• Before editing or post production, films

were one continuous shot

The History of Editing

 – “Tape to Tape”

 – Editor must fast forward/rewind to theplace in the tape that comes next, thenrecord it to a second tape to assembleclips into a story

 – Sometimes still used in small newsmarkets

The History of Editing

Technology• Non-Linear Editing

• Using a program, clips can be

assembled in any order
