• Create a pie chart• Learn how to select nonadjacent ranges of
cells• Change a 2-D pie chart into a 3-D pie chart• Learn how to use a chart sheet• Use a picture in a chart

A Pie Chart
• Show relationship or proportions of parts to a whole
• Slice sizes are determined by values of the data points
• Contains only one data series

Creating a Pie Chart
• Select two ranges:– Category labels– Data series

Selecting Nonadjacent Ranges
• Select the first range of cells
• Press and hold the Ctrl key
• Select the next range of cells

2-D to 3-D Charts
• Select Chart Chart Type…
or
• Select Chart Type buttonon the Chart toolbar

Exploding a Slice of a Pie Chart
• Click the pie chart
• Click the slice you want to explode
• Drag the selected slice away from the center of the chart

Modifying the 3-D View
• Select the chart• Select Chart 3-D View...

Applying a Texture Fill Effects
• Select the chart item you want to modify
• Select Format button on the Chart toolbar
• Push the Fill Effect… button in the Format window
• Select the Texture tab in the Fill Effect window

Using Pictures in a Chart
• Create a Bar or Column chart
• Select all the data series you want to replace with pictures
• Select Insert Picture From File…
• Select the image file• Push Insert

Formatting the Picture
• Select the series containing the picture
• Select Format button on the Chart toolbar
• Push the Fill Effect… button in the Format window
• Select the appropriate format option under the Picture tab in the Fill Effect window
