Efficient Operation: The five-bladed aluminumfan and the rugged impedance-protected, totally-enclosed motor, achieve effi-cient operation.

Phosphatized, Baked Enamel Finish: All sheetmetal and extruded aluminum parts, except theback box, are phosphatized, then finished by abaked enamel electrostatic painting process.

Elements: Steel fins arecopper-brazed to low-wattdensity, steel-sheathed,tubular heating elementswhich are arranged in auniform grid pattern. Thegrid covers the entire intakearea, resulting in uniformheating of all discharged air.

Type CDF-RE enclosures also mount easilyinto standard 2 x 2 ceiling grids

CDF SERIESCOMMERCIAL DOWNFLOW CEILING MOUNTED HEATERSAPPLICATIONSType CDF ceiling-mounting fan-forcedheaters are designed for commercialand industrial areas requiring electricfan-forced heat. Capacities are 2,000to 5,000 watts. Type CDF-SE surfaceenclosures are designed to mount flaton the ceiling and extend only sixinches into the room. Type CDF-REenclosures have no protrusionsoutside the recess box, allowing theheater to recess only seven inchesinto ceiling space. Mounts intopermanent ceiling with trim ring.

FEATURESBUILT-IN FAN DELAY — Spacetemperature is controlled by a wall orunit-mounted thermostat. When thethermostat calls for heat, the heatingelements and fan energize. When thethermostat is satisfied, the elementsshut off, but the fan continues tooperate until all of the heated air isdischarged. This feature avoidsexposing the heater to residual heat,thus achieving a high comfort leveland longer component life.

AUTOMATIC THERMAL CUTOUT —A thermal cutout shuts off the heater inthe event of over-heating andreactivates the heater when thetemperature returns to normal.

MULTIPLE PHASE HEATERS — The208 and 240 volt heaters can be fieldconverted from single to three-phaseoperation. 277 volt single-phaseheater is also available.

MULTIPLEWATTAGE HEATERSECTIONS— The 5,000 watt heatercan be field converted to 3,800 wattsor 2,500 watts, and the 4,000 wattheater is convertible to 3,000 or2,000 watts.

ARCHITECT’S & ENGINEER’S SPECIFICATIONS*The heating equipment shall include an electric, ceiling-mountedtype CDF, Series 500 fan-forced air heater suitable for largearea heating as manufactured by QMark, A Marley EngineeredProducts Brand, Bennettsville, SC. The heater shall be ULListed. The heater shall be designed for surface, recess or T-Barmounting. For surface mounting a QMark CDF-SE surfaceenclosure shall be used. For T-Bar mounting a QMark CDF-RErecess enclosure shall be used. For recessed mounting in apermanent ceiling a QMark CDF-RE recess enclosure andCDF-TK trim kit shall be used. The heaters shall be factorywired for single-phase operation and field convertible to three-phase operation by removing one jumper wire, and relocatingone wire. The heaters should be factory wired for full wattageand field convertible to 75% or 50% wattage by the removal ofone or two wires respectively.HEATER SECTION: The heater section shall consist of 20gauge steel chassis on which are mounted the heatingelements, fan motor and blade, fan control, thermal cutout and3-pole contactor. Heater section shall be completely prewired.HEATING ELEMENTS: The heating element shall beguaranteed for five years and shall be non-glowing designconsisting of 80/20 NiCh resistance wire, enclosed in a steelsheath, to which steel plate fins are brazed. The elements shallcover the entire air intake area to ensure uniform heating of alldischarged air.MOTOR AND CONTROLS: The fan motor shall be impedance-protected, permanently lubricated and with totally-enclosedrotor. Fan control shall be bi-metallic, snap-action type and shallactivate fan after the heating element reaches operatingtemperature, and continue to operate the fan after thethermostat is satisfied and until all heated air has beendischarged. Thermal cutout shall be bi-metallic snap-action typedesigned to automatically shut off the heater in the event ofoverheating and reactivate the heater when the temperaturereturns to normal.

OPERATIONAL CONTROLS: Thermostat, disconnect switchand all interlock relays shall be installed within the heaterenclosure.RECESS ENCLOSURE: The back box shall be designed forduty as a recessed rough-in box in masonry, T-Bar or frameceiling construction. The back box shall be 20 gauge galvanizedsteel and shall contain knockouts through which field wiringleads are brought. Enclosure to recess into a maximum 7 inchesof ceiling space. The louvered recess faceplate shall be 20gauge cold rolled steel, phosphatized, then electrostaticallypainted Navajo White by a baked enamel process.SURFACE ENCLOSURE: The surface mounting plate shall bedesigned for duty as a rough-in box on masonry, T-Bar or frameceiling construction. The surface mounting plate shall be 20gauge galvanized steel and shall contain knockouts throughwhich field wiring leads are brought. Enclosure to extend amaximum of 6 inches into the heated space.The louvered surface wrapper shall be a contoured aluminumextrusion and 20 gauge sheet metal combination with roundedcorners. The surface wrapper shall be electrostatically paintedNavajo White by a baked enamel process.
