INTRODU TION

For the assignment of an interview I am Saad Khan from the department of

Mass Communication, My teacher gave us an assignment to interview a

famous personality about their experience that is why this efforts I am making

for.

I am knocking the door of a person who knocks the world of sports. Yes! I

contacted NASEEM RAJPUT  MA Mass Communication from University of

Karachi, for a discussion about his career. Naseem Rajput is a senior sports

Journalist and anchor-person-producer of sports show of GEO SUPER.

To clutch the world of sports I would like to move on to my questions whichI’ve made for sports analyst, anchor-person and multi talented.

INTERVIEW

1-  Naseem rajput you’ve completed your education from the birth city

and then you moved into Karachi for your graduation and masters in

Mass Communication from the University of Karachi, why would you

choose Mass communication department?

Naseem: Firstly! I just believe when you enter in the world from the birth you

came with the rope of your future that is in your hand but there is also a

destiny which drives the rope! Well, My Parents lives in Karachi and I was living

with my grandparents after completing early education I decided to switch

myself with my parents, I was prepared for the remaining studies to resume it

from the University of Karachi. I am interested in journalism from the birth

approximately, So one of friends said the department of Mass Communication

will helps you to enhance your skills then I applied and got admit on it.

2-  How much do you like your profession?

Naseem: It is a noble profession, undoubtedly. If you are good yourself, If you

talk about medium, people are going to look at singer, actor and so on with

another perspective while news anchor, program anchors are looked at with

another angle.

3-  You’ve also worked for hourly based private firms to pocket your

educational expenses personally, is this a pressure or for asatisfaction?

Naseem: Definitely not a pressure, One day! One sentence can make a change

I remember that day when my father shouted on me and then I decided to do

something for myself and for myself, I had a friend who was studying Mass

Communication and working for a newspaper so I joined him. I work

consecutive 3 years at the same pay then I realized how job feels like. Time

passed on as it never stops for anyone.

4-  Interesting would be to ask, since you are a sports analyst, which is

your favourite sport?

Naseem:  Cricket is everyone’s favourite but I would like to add in, there are

other sports as well, apart from cricket, which should be given special

attention. Like hockey is our national game. The whole picture is there beforeyou. Today our world ranking is 9

th. We brought World Cup Trophy. We put the

foundation stone of World Cup Trophy. This is going to be the first year when

it’s not going to be even a part of World Cup, so it should not be a

circumstance of team management. Likewise, not only hockey, football is

world famous game, tennis is also very popular but it is not much appreciated

in our country.

5-  Your first appearance is on the sports show named “The Match Box” as

a host, what is the value of that show which makes you popular?

Naseem: A lot! I’ll always value “The Match Box”; actually this show made me

learn how to communicate with the people you don’t know even the faces!

And at the very 1st

show I was not as much nervous but the team members

making me more teasingly nervous. But all in the end is in the favour of mine

and “ALLAH KA SHUKAR”  today I am in this position.

6-  So how would you like to motivate the youngsters about the

importance of sports; what it means to our country?

Naseem: Really important, Saad! Sports’ is really important. Sports’ benefits us

in a lot of ways:

1)  PHYSICAL FITNESS: We keep ‘ourselves’ physically fit. It is the most

important when I am healthy, only when I am going to do some

healthy work. The more I am physically fit from inside, the more

confident I am going to become in life.

2)  FRUSTRATION: You are going to find frustration everywhere around

in the society so sports play a very important role to ease, relax and

normalize you. Every day you hear news regarding bomb blasts,

people dying, and so. Frustration is found because of poverty. People

aren’t financially strong. Inflation is its root cause. According to my

knowledge, majority, 10 crore out of 18 crore population is a victim

of frustration. Such people when stand on a ground, they go on track,

the shoes they wear on, the environment that they get into and

sweat out so the frustration that they’ve been holding within getssweated out with it because of the effort they put in the ground.

Mobile snatchers are found almost at every mile especially youngsters.

Sports is such a way for which youth can be guided properly and

motivated to go and play on ground but unfortunately this is yet another

reality that our government doesn’t include sports in its priority.

7-  Proceeding with sports discussion, I would like to ask you how do you

find time for playing in such a busy schedule?

Naseem:  I find it myself out! As I told you, I like to

keep myself fit like we make a GEO team and go for

playing match. I was the first person who made the

team when GEO initiated. Even today whenever we

find some time out, we definitely play. The whole

point is there has to have some activity in your life.

Here we work for 2 hours “Bolain Kya Baat Hai”, full

concentration is required away from all the worries

and tensions then when I go back at home early; I

walk especially to feel at ease.

8-  You’ve served several years working with the print media, why did you

switch a flare (Naseem Rajput) into electronic media?

Naseem: If I won’t switch you’ll never come to me for an interview! Just a

sentence, like I said before time passes away life is moving on I don’t want to

stuck in a place I just like to learn every day of my life from many aspects.

9-  Did your family ever forbid you to knock this field? Your father! Who

was a bureaucrat your family is well settled why don’t you use your

father’s vehicle?

Naseem:  Not at all! My family was a great support. Let me tell you a very

interesting story, my parents used to live here in Karachi and I was with my

grandparents. I was so into fighting and all. There occurred an accident or whatwould I like to call it an incident. Once I had a fight with a boy in my territory, I

7/27/2019 InTerview WiTh Naseem RajpuT

hit that boy in his head with the hockey, his head started bleeding, his mother

brought him at my home, and my father beat me so hard and scolded me like

anything. I remember his saying:

“You stand nowhere. Your father is a bureaucrat upon whom you roam

around”

It touched me a lot. So I’ve contracted to myself that I’ll not touch my father’s

anything, that was my childhood when I was a bit “ZIDDI” .

10- How does it feel like to work for GEO which is the well-known?

Naseem: Proud, Undoubtedly! The biggest organization of Pakistan. There is

no comparison between any other. If you work for it, infact, you’re included in

one of the founder members since it was founded in 2002. Then it makes you

f eel proud. At that time when it was not even famous we didn’t know it’s going

to become a huge hit and nothing would be able to compete it. Obviously, it

feels so nice and proud. I would like to say to students a lot of people don’t

really understand it. Probably people in media may not be financially strong

but there is certain respect and status in society. There are like a lot of workthat even if your brother/father is businessman would not be able to do but a

media person would be because of numerous contacts that he has. All I can say

is ALHAMDULILLAH!

11-Since you’ve become so popular, what response do you get from

surroundings in your normal life?

Naseem: It feels humbled. When you go out with your family, people recognize

you pointing at what you did right what not. But your responsibility increases

proportionally. If you do something wrong, they are the ones who’re going to

bring you down. By the same token, I am in a position that I signify justice. I

strongly believe if you speak the truth and do justice, you’re not going to face

many problems. Definitely it feels nice. People come and take autographs and

photographs. I usually refuse them because I am not a celebrity but a

 journalist.

12-Has there come any hindrance in relieving any top story via

headlines or you know that you would face if you break any true news?

Naseem: Look, you’ve to fight for your news yourself. It is not necessary that

everyone where you work agree with you all the time. It’s a part of life that out

of 4 people, you might have a good understanding with 2 only. The other 2

definitely tries to stop news from breaking. Your news should contain the

truth, proper proof and your organization’s policy. For example; my

organization has a policy from where I take my salary, that policy first of all

should be followed by me. Afterwards, I will try to bring out the news from the

same angle. For example, my organization has a policy that Pakistan cricketteam is coining, they should never be criticized but if I got news that in Dubai

there has occurred some quarrel between two players, and I have got proof, I

am sound and my news has not broke yet. Now I have to struggle how I am

going to fight for this news in my organization. I am going to try my first boss,

then second boss; if it doesn’t work I am going to go maximum level that I can

reach. Nevertheless, I have to break this news by all means, so, there is a lot of

newspaper where I can break this news.

13-Where a lot competition out there, how come these ideas strike is

in your mind; what should be the topic of the content, who should be

the guest?

Naseem:  Reading should be a regular habit. If you are good at it, ideas are

going to pop up in your mind automatically. Your mind does generate ideas but

when you study something, you get into its different angles that I am going to

follow this. For example; today the show that’s going to ON-AIR, its team

meeting took place in which it was decided that today we are going to talk

about the good performance of Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti so the topic of the

show should be “Why youngsters are not getting chance?” It’s going to be the

theme of the show. If senior players are threatened by junior players or

whether someone else is involved in it. Sohaib Maqsood is a youngster who

performed really well. Then Bilawal and Anwar performed really well in theirdebut. So it was really difficult to choose “The man of the match“. What I am

paying an attention not only NASEEM RAJPUT is doing everything. These

assignments will never archive if one of them will be missed.

15- So how does it feel the person who interviews others is

interviewed today himself?

Naseem: I felt really great. Firstly, because I was giving interview to Saad as I

have even worked with him. Secondly, you belong to the department where I

came from, Mass Communication. I respect Mass Communication a lot. We’ve

learnt a lot from our teachers. I would like to convey a message to all our

students. These four years of Bachelors should be focused. It’s going to be a

really learning experience but this is theory, the actual practical life is whenyou enter in your professional life is seen over there and is totally different.

There may be a vast difference between both. It is not right. What you learn in

your student life is your base; you need to found your base strong yourself in

your professional life. Find what you are good at yourself.

This message is to all the students. As I always knew that I could only

excel in sports so I explore myself in sports only so people who think they can

do better in business should go in this field only. Those interested in politicsshould go in politics. The ones talk about crime, go in crime. Media has got a

lot of its sub-branches but where your mind and your attention are, should be

strictly controlled. Once you get into any field so I believe you cannot get this

amount of success as the ones you could be interested whole-heartedly as

happened with me. I made sports my profession, so it was made easy for me to

learn and do work. Thank you, Saad. Nice talking to you. Wish you a very good

luck.....
