Interview with Michael Neuhaus, Managing Director

of msg treorbis GmbH

‘Born-in-the-cloud’ SAP solutions for variant manufacturersAlthough SAP’s attention has turned to the mid-market and its product strategy favours sales from a single source, many users deplore that the software cannot be integrated just by purchasing additional programs. This is where msg treorbis from Hamburg comes in. As an SAP end-to-end provider and member of the msg Group, the German enterprise closes the service gap and provides the links and interfaces that are missing. Dedicated to solutions for mid-sized enterprises and variant manufacturers, msg treorbis offers holistic and cross-modular SAP consulting, from implementation projects and management services to licenses, application management and SAP hosting, all from a single source.

Not always valued highly enough

in the past, mid-sized businesses

may be considered the backbone

of the national economy. Their ap-

preciation in society and politics

is growing. They contribute to

wealth and regional development,

and they provide jobs and train-

ing opportunities. “Our focus has

been on the German mid-market

all along,” emphasizes Manag-

ing Director Michael Neuhaus,

who joined msg treorbis ten years

ago. “Our founding customer,

Lufthansa Technik, has remained

our partner for the last 20 years,

which confirms our aim to estab-

lish long-lasting customer relations

and cooperation agreements.” The

support of SAP software started

with production, yet over the

years msg treorbis expanded its

services to include topics such as

personnel management and time

calculation. Based on SAP cloud

software, talent management and

performance were channelled

into recruiting. Business analyt-

ics with finance and controlling is

another sector the company covers

today. “Demographic change has

reached all branches of business,

just like the shortage of qualified

staff,” points out Mr. Neuhaus. “As

a consultant for mid-sized compa-

nies, we decided to focus on vari-

ant manufacturers and provide full

SAP solutions, from consulting via

implementation to operation and

all SAP-related services.”

msg treorbis has succeeded in

growing from a mere consulting

business to a software and system

house. “We have developed our

own software solutions to comple-

ment the SAP standard,” confirms

the Managing Director, who is one

of the authors of a handbook on

variant configurations with SAP.

The annual Conference for Variant Manufacturers in St. Leon-Rot, the largest German-language SAP event on variant configurations, was hosted by msg treorbis, SAP and Sybit

As a consultant of mid-sized companies, we decided to focus on variant manufacturers and provide full SAP solutions, from consulting via implementation to operation and all

SAP-related services.

“We not only consult manufactur-

ers on optimizing processes, we

also act as resellers and end-to-

end providers.” It is what SAP

refers to as a ‘born in the cloud

player’ – a player with cloud ex-

pertise that is localized to different

markets and adapted for specific

industries, in this case variant pro-

duction in the mid-market. “Many

of our clients are growing on an

international or even global scale,

yet their know-how is not sufficient

to handle their entire personnel

management,” says Mr. Neuhaus.

“The lack of staff, particularly in

the country, makes it worse, so

outsourcing of such services is

becoming the order of the day. We

also provide services and consult-

ing related to digitalization, for

example on digitally planned main-

tenance, cloud services, service

platforms, functions, Apps on the

platform and 3D configurations.”

In June 2019, msg treorbis, SAP

and Sybit hosted the 12th annual

Conference for Variant Manufac-

turers at SAP in St. Leon-Rot, the

largest German-language SAP

event on variant configuration

with more than 20 presentations.

Thanks to its expertise in SAP

support and the development of

SAP full-service solutions, msg

treorbis has become Europe’s

most significant partner to variant

manufacturers in its field. Rather

than just providing high-quality

consulting and realizing software,

the specialists from Hamburg aim

to understand and advise their

clients in their processes and pro-

vide corresponding solutions. “The

software is the tool, but the focus

is not on the sale,” emphasizes Mr.

Neuhaus. “Most of our consultants

have 20 or more years of experi-

ence, so they have a lot of know-

how to pass on to our customers.

On the other hand, we also advise

our clients on very innovative top-

ics in the end-to-end perspective,

for example cloud-based error

control, the use of micro services

and recruiting.” As part of the msg

Group with 7,500 employees and

operations in 25 countries, msg

treorbis has an annual turnover of

nearly 20 million EUR and employs

130 people at its sites in Lingen

and Hamburg. With successful

international sales and marketing

activities, the company is growing

towards its aim of becoming the

leading SAP address for variant

manufacturers .

The msg team at the Forum Produktion exhibition is well-prepared to present the company’s software and service spectrum

Managing Director Michael Neuhaus is an expert in variant configuration

Trade fairs, conferences and exhibitions provide a welcome opportunity to view and discuss new technologies

Most of our consultants have 20 or more years of experi-ence, so they have a lot of know-how to pass on to our

customers. On the other hand, we also advise our clients on very innovative topics in the end-to-end perspective.
