Armoy resident tells how speeding cars doing 'donuts' outside his home are ruining his life – Stephen Nolan show

• This interview is a audio interview conducted by Stephen Noland on the Noland Show in 2012, in the interview Stephen is interviewing Bernard Sparks and Constable Rosemary Leach about cars performing donuts in Armoy. This interview is very serous but not formal, I can tell this because this is a serous issue but Stephen chooses to play a sound bite to let listeners hear what it sounds like when a car is performing a donut. The interview is very chatty up until Noland mentions that police hide behind hedges to catch people speeding, Leach seems to take offence to this and the mood of the interview changes to quite a hostile mood.

Through out the interview Noland asks a lot of questions which are all open questions and both Sparks and Leach take full advantage of this to get there points across to the audience. The interview is structured with Stephen welcoming Sparks onto the show and asking him various questions about the situation that’s occurring in his area, after this Stephen plays a soundbite and then welcomes Leach to the show and begins asking her questions about the situation in Sparks area. I personally think the interview was aimed at both adults in work and also young drivers who enjoy doing donuts on the road, It informed both parties of what the police are doing to combat the drivers involved.

Interview with Jimmy McRae – UTV Drive

• The second interview I chose to analyse was a moving image interview done by UTV drive in 2010. The style and tone of this interview is very informal as you can recognise that both men are in a TV studio but they are cracking jokes and having a laugh which lets the audience know that McRae is trying to inform the audience about the circuit of Ireland rally. The interview is styled as a very casual and laid back interview as jimmy cracks a joke about his hair turning from black to grey at the start, this relaxes the audience and makes them feel at ease.

The UTV Drive presenter asks jimmy a range of questions which are all open questions about jimmy's rallying portfolio. Jimmy takes advantage of this and gives the presenter long informational answers. The interview starts with the presenter saying that Jimmy has won the trophy seven times and then jimmy cracks a joke, from here the presenter asks Jimmy questions which jimmy answers. Both of the men laugh regularly through out this interview, to wrap the interview up the interviewer cracks a joke about Jimmy coming out of retirement if someone breaks his record. I think the audience this interview was targeting was rally enthuses and young people looking to buy a new car as its purpose was to inform them of the circuit of Ireland rally.

Jeremy Clarkson - This Morning interview

• This interview is a moving image interview conducted by the presenters of the one show during July 2006, during the interview the hosts actively interview Jeremy Clarkson about his opinion of cars and his spot within the media spotlight. The interview tone is serous in some parts of the interview but in other parts it is quite funny and chatty. For example when Clarkson is talking about environmentalists targeting him it is quite serous but the tone soon changes to a pretty informal chatty tone when Clarkson talks about the cars the staff members of this morning show. The style of the interview is informal as we can see the interview is taking place in a TV studio that is set up to look like a living room.

Throughout the interview Clarkson is asked many questions by the hosts of the this morning show, all these questions are open questions such as “you must be one of the calmest men off tv as you get to vent your anger on video” Jeremy uses this to give long and honest answer to the interviewers question. The interview its self is very well structured starting with Philip introducing Clarkson and then showing a clip if Clarkson hitting a car with a sledge hammer. When this clip ends the interview begins and Philip asks Clarkson many open questions, during the interview Clarkson promotes his new DVD haven and hell by talking about a car he destroyed (clip at start of interview). Clarkson then talks for a bit before a clip is shown of him getting a pie shoved in his face by an environmentalist. After this Clarkson then guesses who from the this morning team drives what car just by looking at photos of there cars. I think this interview was aimed at adults who have free time during the day. The sole purpose of the interview is to promote Clarksons new DVD.

Over 100 motoring offences detected by Gardai over rally weekend– Highland

Radio • http://www.highlandradio.com/2014/06/23/over-100-motoring-offenc

es-detected-by-gardai-over-rally-weekend/

• For my next interview I chose a radio interview done by Sean Doherty on Highland Radio. During this interview Sean interviews garda Michael Harrison about the reckless driving that took place during the weekend of the Donegal international rally, so its tone is very serous and formal. The interview is not very conversational or casual as Harrison is very serous and condemns those involved with the incidents. In the full interview which I was listing to after the rally weekend Harrison is asked lots more questions than he is asked in this segment of the interview. In the segment Harrison is only asked one open question in relation to policing the rally weekend, he takes full advantage of this he talks in detail about how he cant police all the roads in Donegal.

The structure of the Full interview consisted of the interviewer talking to some members of the public affected by the reckless driving before interviewing Garda Harrison who condemns those involved. After Harrison if interviewed the interviewer reads out some texts and emails from more members of the public. The interview is targeted towards adults and the elderly population as it informs them what the garda are doing to combat this problem.

TV3 The Morning Show female Drift driver Danielle Murphy – entertainment

• In this interview the hoists of the morning show interview Danielle Murphy (European queen of drift) this Is a moving image interview. The tone and style of the interview is very chatty and conversational as Murphy is proud of her achievements and wants to tell the hoists of the show about them. The style of the interview is very casual as we can see it is filmed in a TV studio set up to look like someone's sitting room. The questions Murphy is asked range from open to closed questions (e.g. •are these your trophies ? – closed question •tell us a bit about drift racing – open question) Murphy talks in detail and answers the questions really well.

The interview is really well structured as the hosts introduce Murphy and ask her various questions about drifting and crack a few jokes (e.g. some boys are looking to know are you single). During the interview the hoists also uses cutaways to there advantage. The show is aimed at woman who are middle aged.
