Standing on a street corner

What do you notice about the world around you as you do this?

Life goes on- everyone has somewhere to be

Shops/ businesses we hadn’t noticed before- stood out

People were rushing to get out of the rain

Standing on a street corner

How do you feel standing there?

Felt slightly uncomfortable- stood still, not doing anything in the rain

Selly Oak- student area, not out of place for a student to be stood on a street corner, assume they are waiting for someone

Standing on a street corner

How do other pedestrians respond to you?

Rain- some people were rushing past with umbrellas and weren’t noticing what we were doing, concentrating on getting out of rain

Strange looks- those that noticed stared, stood on a corner without an umbrella, not under a cover in the pouring rain

In the way- felt like we were obstructing people walking past

Walking backwards

Walking backwardsWhat do you notice about the world around you as you do this?

Walking backwards supports arguments about the ‘right way’ of doing things.

Different walk- notice things walking backwards didn’t notice when walking normally to uni

Felt unfamiliar- having to look and check a route that we walk everyday

Walking backwardsHow do you feel?

Really uncomfortable- felt stupid

Laughing ourselves- knew that we looked strange and that people were looking at us

Going to fall/ walk into someone- couldn’t see what was behind us, felt uneasy

Walking backwardsHow do other pedestrians respond to you?

Laughing- perhaps because we were laughing too

Staring- we were doing something ‘abnormal’/ different to what they were doing and so they noticed us

Strange/annoyed looks- people in rush because of rain and getting in the way walking backwards
