Lanscaping at Webel HRDC

Nodes audit/Capacity validation at Webel HRDC using iON Lanscape Application was done. Under the supervision of the Test Center Owner, Mr. Chandra Sekhar Singh, our team went there and conducted the Capacity Validation/Lanscaping of 180 computer nodes. We thoroughly checked the health of each computer node and the Local Area Network (LAN). Issues found with the health of the computers and LAN were resolved with the help of the System Administrator there.

TCS iON Page 11

Page 12: Intership report

During the process of Lanscaping, we connected our assessment server to the LAN of Webel HRDC, assigned a static IP address to it and captured the following details of each every candidate node:

MAC Address

System IP

Location (Test Center room)

Before capturing the above details, following details are verified:

System Date : Should match with server’s date Pop up Blocker : Should be disabled Programmatic Clipboard Access : Should be enabled System Bandwidth Status : Should be Good/Green Hindi Font Reader : Mangal.ttf should be installed Browser zoom level : Should be 100% Proxy : Should be disabled

Then we shared the Lanscaped Data with Data Center using the same application. We must ensure that internet connectivity is there during upload of the lanscaped data.

Steps followed to start iON Lanscape:

1. Started the iON OAP Assessment Server by clicking on Start All Programs iON Online Assessment Platform iON OAP Server Start iON OAP Assessment Server.Checked the server startup time and minimized the DOS prompt then.

Lanscaping at Webel HRDC (Contd..)

2. To start Lanscaping, clicked on Start All Programs iON Online Assessment Platform Application Start Lanscape.

3. Logged with the credentials to perform “Lanscape validation” of Webel HRDC.

4. Selected the State, City and Test Center Name from drop down list and clicked on “Proceed”.

TCS iON Page 12

Page 13: Intership report

5. Clicked on “Next” to proceed further and allowed the Server system check to complete and display the result.

6. Clicked on “Next” on the result display screen and finally clicked on “Next” again in “Server Check Summary” section which brought us to the “Candidate System Status” stage.

7. We moved to candidate console PCs at the TC.

8. We downloaded iON OAP Launcher.zip on every candidate PC.

9. We opened the iON OAP Launcher.exe file, typed the IP Address of assessment server, selected the “Lanscape” radio button and clicked on “Launch” button.\

10.We allowed the bandwidth test to complete. Machines with poor bandwidth were used as buffer machines.

11.We checked all the pre requisites as mentioned on Page 10, along with the Hindi font, selected the “Location” of the node, checked all the Check Boxes and clicked on “Click to finish”, after which all the system details got hit on the server, which could now be seen on “Candidate System Status” page.

12.We then conducted “simulation load test” using iON Lanscape on every machine to ensure good bandwidth of the entire LAN.

13.After completing the simulation load test we exported the system details data into an excel file and then shared all the data on to the data center.

14. Next step was to perform Mock Tests for IBPS SBI PO Online Exam using iON OAP AEC.

Mock Test at Webel HRDC

Based on the lanscaped/validated data shared with command center, solution team configures the assessment and selects the preferred Test Centers based on required capacity. The team also configures the Multi-Lingual Question Paper Template with various rules / configuration parameters.

There were 3 mock exam drives which were downloaded from the data center and mock test was conducted on all the computer nodes for 3 days prior to the actual exam

TCS iON Page 13

day. This activity helps us to ensure that we have the required number of working nodes with respect to number of candidates allocated to the exam drive.

The application used to download the mock and actual exam drives and conducting the exam, is iON OAP AEC.

1. Once the “Status” column in View Examinees says “Completed” for all the candidates after the end of the exam, we can go ahead and click on “End Slot”.End Slot Slot n.

2. Once all the slots are ended, we click on “Proceed with saving and uploading results” and thus we upload all the result and audit trail files on to the data center.

3. The final step is ending the drive. The Observer’s feedback is taken on the “End Drive” section. Once the feedback is taken, the IT Manager enters his/her details and ends the drive.

Exam Day Preparations

LAN - Points to be Ensured: Verification the condition of the Network Switches during our Pre-Exam activities. Network Switches configured at cool and dry places. Network wiring (Lan Cables) checked for loose connections, dust etc. during

Mock Tests. Back-end services in all the Computer systems checked and disabled. No internet access from any candidate machine. Proxy server is disconnected at the Test Centre.

TCS iON Page 14

Page 15: Intership report

For each LAN / VLAN, identification of a desktop and installation of the iON OAP Installer is done.

On the day of the exam, carrying out 'ipconfig' on the primary server and noting down the ip address is done. This IP Address was used in the URL of each candidate machine (http://ip address of primary server/AEC).

A Network Specialist was made available on the day of the exam at the Test Centre.

Power Related Checks: Checked if UPS is connected to both PC and Monitor or if it is connected only to

PC. Checked and ensured that the UPS / DG set is able to bear the power load from

all PCs and Monitors in the Test Center.

Manpower Required Ratios: For Verification at the Entry Point, Volunteer to Candidate ratio was 1: 80. For Verification and document collection at the Exam Room, Invigilator to

Candidate ratio was 1: 30.

Lay outs: We had to ensure that each and every layouts and sign boards are in their place. Room wise roll number sheet and Notice Board Sheet was downloaded from the

AEC console and was pasted at the main entrance and the computer labs. Direction arrows were also pasted at respective location of the test center, so

that the candidates find it easier to locate their respective computer labs.

On Exam Day at Webel HRDC

Verification at Entry Point: There were two volunteers who were deployed at the entry point and were

engaged in the task of verifying the candidates’ documents required for taking the assessment. The verification was done with respect to the protocols mentioned in page# 9.

Security personnel guided the candidates to their respective labs.

TCS iON Page 15
