First Thoughts

Dear Church,

It is good to be back home. As many of you know, for the past two weeks I have been in Atlanta finishing up one final seminar for my doctoral work. While I love learning and being with friends who work in other churches, I found myself counting down the days until I was back in Augusta with you all.

We are only halfway into our summer rhythm and I am amazed at how much has already been done by our church. Here are a few highlights from the month of June. - VBS was a huge success. I have heard so much positive feedback about the experiences our children had during Vacation Bible School. Please tell Melissa Willis, our Minister to Children, how much you appreciate all her hard work.

- Our youth just returned from camp in Awanita Valley. In Sunday School last week, I was lucky enough to see a video detailing their experience at camp. They had an amazing time! Trust me when I tell you that they had way more fun than I did in my Doctoral Seminar. David Hughes is off to an incredible start as our new Minister to Students. Great things are on the horizon for the youth ministry at FBC.

- We have a mission team in South Dakota this week, where they are sharing the Gospel in both word and deed. Continue to pray for them as they do good work with Lakota Indians. We also have mission teams leaving for an international trip to Honduras and an in-state trip to Savannah in the next few weeks.

As I often tell you, there are so many wonderful things happening at FBC. I am thrilled to be a part of such a vibrant congregation! I hope you will be in worship on Sunday morning as we baptize TEN new brothers and sisters!

See you Sunday, Will

Our college ministry is making a trip to Passion 2019 in Atlanta, Ga for Jan. 2-4 at Phillips Arena. This is an inspirational Christian conference specifically designed for 18-25 year olds and their leaders. Current and rising high school seniors may also attend in addition to our college and post graduate students. The church will provide transportation and has reserved hotel rooms at The Hilton Atlanta Downtown and the Hotel Indigo, both in walking distance of Phillips Arena. The cost of this trip for students is $155. This secures your hotel room but not your entrance into the conference. Purchasing tickets to the conference can be done here at - https://268generation.com/passion2019/. You will want to select the Phillips Arena venue. Prices will increase as the date nears and the venue will sell out so it is wise to do this asap. To reserve your hotel room, drop your check off with Elizabeth Chao at the church office.
