QUESTION 1:

The figure shows the top view, incomplete front view and an

auxillary view of a right square prism that has been shaped to fit

around a right regular hexagonal prism, drawn in first-angle

projection. The axes of both solids lie in a common vertical plane.

Draw the following views of both solids:

The given top view

the complete front view, clearly showing the line of intersection

that is formed between the two solids.

Develop the surfaces of the branch solid.

Show all necessary construction.

QUESTION 3:

The figure shows the top view, incomplete

front view and an auxillary view of a right

suqare prism that has been shaped to fit

around a right regular pentagonal prism,

drawn in first-angle projection. The axes of

both solids are offset.

Draw the following views of both solids:

The given top view.

The complete front view, clearly

showing the line of intersection that is

formed between the two solids.

Develop the surface of the branch prism

marked A.

Show all necessary construction.

QUESTION 4:

The figure shows the incomplete front view

and top view of a right cylinder that has been

shaped to fit around another right cylinder,

drawn in first angle projection. The axes of

both cylinders lie in a common vertical plane.

Draw the following views of the cylinders:

The given top view.

The complete front view, clearly showing

the line of intersection that is formed

between the cylinders.

Develop the surface of the cylinder

marked A.

Show all necessary construction.

23

Divide the branch cylinder into segments.

24

Find where the lines intercept and join those points.

25

For the development, to calculate the circumference of the

circle there are many different methods.

All three are shown here.

QUESTION 5:

The drawing below shows a part

of a rain water down pipe. The

circled area shown in the drawing

needs to be developed after first

finding the line of intersection of

the two pipes.

An exploded view of this down

pipe is shown below with its

dimensions scaled down to half its

original size (1:2).

Draw the given pipes (A and B)

as shown in the exploded view.

Find the line of intersection of

the two pipes. Show all

necessary construction.

Develop the surface of pipe B.
