Solution implementation and benefits

With a speed of up to 3,000 cartons per hour, the new Tray Erector 216s is an outstanding innovation in the mid-price market segment, offering high flexibility and extreme repeat accuracy.

The machine is a powerful solution to replace existing mechanical driven cam systems. Based on a PacDrive 3 automation solution, it is fully servo driven.

• All 12 servo motors are synchronized by a virtual line shaft

• All servo motors work as close as possible to the mechanic folding elements to provide maximum dynamics

IWK based the automation solution of the FP filling platform on PacDrive 3. It is the standard automation solution at IWK for machines that include motion control or robotics. PacDrive 3 provides basic features which IWK uses to implement sophisticated functionalities in their machines:

The introduction of servo drives has resulted in a higher level of flexibility by means of well-designed machines with flexible and programmable stations. They allow them to control and operate a station individually during the blister making process.

Even in their new line of vertical pouch machines, the advantage of servo drives is clear as they make it possible to achieve higher speeds and better accuracy in transport, sealing, and dosing.

LoeschPack offers a wide and high-quality range of machines for the packaging of confectionery, chocolate, and dry baked goods, in addition to chewing gum and non-food products. At interpack 2017, LoeschPack is presenting the world debut of its RCB-HS. This innovative development is ideal for small chocolate products, combining a hermetically sealed pack style with a traditional fold wrap look.

The LoeschPack RCB-HS for packaging small chocolate products

Solution implementation and benefits

The RCB-HS’ performance runs at up to 600 products a minute. The machine produces the fold wrap in one wrapping head, and hot-seals the pack circumferentially. The heat bars always seal film against film, ensuring extremely tight packaging. Folding elements then produce the traditional fold wrap. The machine in balcony design is automated with Schneider Electric´s PacDrive 3 motion control solution:

Solution implementation and benefits

• The capping heads of the Mengibar filling and capping monoblock are driven by the servo ILM0703P02F0000 with integrated drive electronics. It was chosen for its compactness and a flexible approach to cabling.

• Programming was considerably reduced thanks to the high modularity concept of the SoMachine Motion template.

• The main motor machine is managed by the LXM62 inside the PacDrive 3 architecture, making it possible to avoid mechanical crashes when the power supply is lost while moving.

Meurer Verpackungssysteme GmbH stands for the development and manufacture of innovative end-of-line packaging solutions. At interpack, the company is presenting a ´5-in-1´ system for cardboard and film packaging based on a CM / HTW high-performance tray and wraparound case packer, combined with a CM / FL 600 FILMline film wrapper.

Solution implementation and benefits

Both machines are automated with a PacDrive 3 motion control solution, the case packer with an LMC 400 Pro controller, and the film wrapper with an LMC 106 Eco type. All servo axes have been realized with Lexium 62 double axis servo drives. Meurer has used Lexium 62 servo drives as well for AC-motors instead of frequency converters.

• Minimized cabinet space by using double drive with shared power supply

• Reduced variant diversity by replacing frequency converters with standard servo drives

• Better integration of AC-axes in the machine program

Blister machine BLU 400

The secondary packaging of susceptible liquid dose products demands careful handling throughout the entire process. All processing steps must be accurate and precisely synchronized. As customer require-ments concerning liquid dose packaging are extremely diverse, each solution is very specific and customized. A flexible and scalable automation solution is required to achieve this.

The automation solution for the BLU 400 is based on the PacDrive 3 system, which controls all servo- motors and one or more SCARA robots for product feeding. All working stations, indexes, and transfer systems have high-precision servodrives which govern the perfectly balanced interaction of the subsystems.
