*ui in 1aluchistan !his disco$ery generated immense interest in e(ploration and fi$e ma'or foreign oil

companies entered into concession agreements .ith the Go$ernment

During the 789,s# these companies carried out e(tensi$e geological and geophysical sur$eys and

drilled :; e(ploratory .ells %s a result# a fe. small gas fields .ere disco$ered Despite these gas

disco$eries# e(ploration acti$ity after ha$ing reached its peak in mid2789,s# declined in the late fifties

responsi)ility to undertake a .ell thought out and systematic e(ploratory programs and to plan and

 promote Pakistan4s oil and gas prospects

%s an instrument of policy in the oil and gas sector# the Corporation follo.ed the Go$ernment

instructions in matters of e(ploration and de$elopment !he day to day management .as ho.e$er#
