1.1. Company Background:
Prior to OGDCL4s emergence# e(ploration acti$ities in the country .ere carried out )y Pakistan
Petroleum Ltd 5PPL6 and Pakistan Oilfields Ltd 5POL6 n 789+# PPL disco$ered a giant gas field at
*ui in 1aluchistan !his disco$ery generated immense interest in e(ploration and fi$e ma'or foreign oil
companies entered into concession agreements .ith the Go$ernment
During the 789,s# these companies carried out e(tensi$e geological and geophysical sur$eys and
drilled :; e(ploratory .ells %s a result# a fe. small gas fields .ere disco$ered Despite these gas
disco$eries# e(ploration acti$ity after ha$ing reached its peak in mid2789,s# declined in the late fifties
