This commitment has become the main focus of corporate operations for the period up to the future.Began in 1960, based on MPRS decision no. II/MPRS/1960 dated December 5th 1960, the council set out to build cement plant in South Sulawesi, located in the Village of Tonasa, Balocci District, Pangkep Regency, about 54 km north of Makassar. Tonasa Cement plant unit I was the project under the Department of Industry and it was the result of cooperation between the Indonesian Government and Czechoslovakian Government that began in 1960 and inaugurated on November 2nd 1968. In 1984 the Tonasa Cement plant unit I discontinued from its operation because of inefficiency reason due to its wet process. In order to increase the development of the factory, based on Indonesian Government Regulation no. 54/ 1971 dated September 8th 1971, Tonasa Cement plant was set as a State Owned Company in the form of General Company. Then, based on the Indonesian Government Regulation no. 1/ 1975, on January 9th 1975, the status of General Company changed to Limited Liability Company. In order to meet the demand of cement need and the development of nations life, based on Bappenas approval no. 032/XC-LC/B.V/76 and no. 2854/D.1/IX/76 on September 2nd 1976, the government set out to build Tonasa Cement plant unit II. The plant which was the result of the cooperation between the Indonesian Government and the Canadian Government operated in 1980 with the designed capacity of 510,000 tons of cement per year, and then optimized to be 590,000 tons of cement per year in 1991. The plant with 590,000 tons of cement per years is the result of a partnership between the Indonesian Government and West Germany Government. The plant was finished at the end of 1984 and inaugurated by President Soeharto on April 3rd 1985.Next, the company continued to expand the factory due to the increase of cement need. And based on the letter of the Junior Minister of Industry no. 182/MPP-IX/1990 on October 2nd 1990, and Minister of Finance Letter no. Unit IV is located near Tonasa unit II and unit III.During the four decades the company has brought great contribution to the country. This commitment will continue to be followed to increase a better life for the homeland and the nation in the future. Answering these challenges, through the EGM No. 24 dated on December 24th 2007, shareholders decided to increase production capacity in order to face competitive markets in the country. The efforts were done through building plan of the Cement Tonasa plant unit V with a designed capacity of 2,500,000 tons of cement per year and the development of power plant with a capacity of 3,480,000 tons of cement per year, which comes from the Cement Tonasa plant unit II, III, IV.
