Internet Explorer 7.0 Settings Overview This lesson details the settings needed for NIS to work properly with Internet Explorer 7.0. You may or may not be able to change these settings on your own, depending on your department's policies. Before making any changes on your PC be sure to check first with your local IT staff.

Internet Explorer 7.0 Settings Lesson Procedure In this lesson you will learn how to set the correct Internet Exlorer 7.0 settings for NIS. Warning: Before making any changes to your work computer check with your local IT individuals.

Step Action 1.

Click the Tools button.

Click the Internet Options menu.

Step Action 3.

Click the Advanced tab.

4. Scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 settings.

5. Make sure the “Use HTTP 1.1 though proxy connections" box is checked. 6. Scroll down to Security.

7. Make sure the “Use SSL 2.0” box is checked.

Step Action 20. Scroll to Downloads.

21. Make sure the Enable button for Automatic prompting for file downloads is

selected.

22. Make sure the Enable button for File download is selected. 23. Scroll down to Miscellaneous.

24. Make sure the Enable button for Allow script-initiated windows without size or

position contraints is selected. 25. Scroll to Display mixed content.

26. Make sure the Enable button is selected for Display mixed content.

27. Scroll to Scripting.

28. Make sure the Enable button on Active scripting is selected. 29. Make sure the Enable button for Scripting of Java applets is selected.

Click the OK button.

37. Warning: Various changes to your PC, such as upgrading from Internet Explorer 6.0 to Internet Explorer 7.0, installing automatic updates, or reimaging can alter your Internet Explorer settings and consequently cause problems viewing PDFs through NIS. If you have changed your settings in the past, and are experiencing problems again, be sure to re-check them. Note: Either the Sun Java Runtime Environment or the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine must be running on your computer. This is something that should already be set up, but if you are not sure, or have questions please check with your local IT individuals. Note: Internet Explorer 6.0 is packaged with Windows XP Professional, and SP1 must be applied. See your local IT individuals for assistance." End of Procedure.
