The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has created a world first, pulling together four events to be based around its annual National Conference in 2018 on the Gold Coast. As with its inaugural event in 2016, ASSA will be partnering with the biennial Splash! Expo – being held on 1st and 2nd August, with the Australian Swim Schools Conference leading into it from the 30th July to 1st August 2018.

2018 will also see the Swim Schools event followed on the 1st and 3rd August by ISSA’s World Infant Aquatics Conference – the world’s leading event covering the teaching of infants and toddlers to swim. This brings together the leading exponents of teaching babies and toddlers swimming and water safety skills from around the globe. The focus will not only be on skill development, but also the many cognitive, social and emotional benefits accruing from quality early years swimming - as evidenced in the four year Griffith University study.

The fourth event in 2018 will be a Tour of Swim Schools in Sydney, for overseas visitors, preceding the Conferences. This will provide an excellent guided opportunity to take in a number of premier Swim Schools and the great city itself. A post Conferences Tour of Brisbane and its Swim Schools is also being considered.

Location – Location – Location

The Gold Coast is a must – do in 2018! A city inspired by lifestyle and driven by opportunity, famed for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots and large system of inland canals and waterways, it is also the theme park capital of Australia. Head inland and you will discover hiking trails that crisscross Lamington National Park’s mountain ridges and valleys, home to rare birds and rainforest. On the Gold Coast, good food and good wine is always partnered with stunning natural settings; from the ocean to the rainforest and everything in-between. To assist participants at the International Swim Schools Spectacular to take more of the Gold Coast in, optional activities are the ISSA Welcome at Q1’s SkyPoint and a bus trip to the Australian Outback Spectacular to watch the Gold Coast’s best Dinner Show.

Accommodation

No matter your taste or budget, the Gold Coast has a wide array of accommodation options to suit every type of traveller. Hotels, Apartments, Ocean-side accommodation properties with breathtaking views, and award-winning restaurants are just few of the options available. With options to stay across the road in the heart of Broadbeach, or only a short tram trip south to Surfers Paradise, there’s plenty of options available.

We are currently seeking special deals that are available in Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise for our Conference delegates. Keep an eye out for any deals you may come across for the Gold Coast, and stay tuned here for more information in the coming months.
